Okay then. Well, I was born in Falkreath. Yeah. The town is basically famous for having a cemetery filled with Nords of a famous-ish nature. Since the only thing we really have going for us is a bunch of dead bodies, all the buildings have really inspirational names that…all have to do with – you guessed it – death. My parents moved from somewhere not-Skyrim (never found out where) before my brother and I were born. Well, then first my brother was born. All his friends were Nords, so he acted like one. Of course he was very much into how hard he could swing an axe and fight and all that. A few years after he was born, I was made somehow, and fell into the world screaming and stuff. According to my parents, I was a very annoying baby. My brother tried to take me out with his friends, as they hunted random wildlife. Let’s just say it ended with…bad. Yes, it ended with bad. Ran into a pack of wolves, and since the oldest of us was twelve – we lost. The older boys were mostly fine – just shaken up. I, however, wasn’t so lucky. If it wasn’t for my mother being an Alchemist, I would have probably died, honestly. I know that’s a dreary thought – even for a town that makes a big deal out of a cemetery – but true. A wolf attacked a six year old. Well, after that, I wasn’t exactly invited or welcomed among my brother’s friends. My parents also decided I was allergic to outside, and started teaching me inside things – like reading. My mother started teaching me basic Alchemy at a somewhat young age. Though…I’ll never forget the feeling of finding out why she was catching butterflies. Those were not for pets. No she was capturing them and picking the wings off of them. Ten year old me did not like that. I began learning basic magic not too long after. Since I had distanced myself from everything large, metal, and somewhat pointy – my parents felt I needed some way to defend myself. I started with basic wards to shield myself. This evolved into more complex magic over time, of course. My brother eventually left to go fight for the Empire. Or was it Stormcloaks? Stormcloaks, I think. In all honesty I hate politics. All I know is that there was one guy who screamed or something and killed the high king. That made people really mad and started a war. I’ve seen families get torn apart due to differing views. This is why I don’t really have an opinion on the matter. I know a lot of people don’t like that answer – but it’s the truth. I do have a family-stake in the Stormcloaks – but they’ve done some messed up stuff. As have the Empire. How about a third party comes in and wins? I mean…it would make sense. Skyrim is in a weakened state right now. We’re fighting amongst ourselves. If someone else was to invade, we’d be basically helpless. But, enough about that. That’s probably the most you’ll see me talk about the political situation in Skyrim. I think the whole ‘dragon situation’ out-shines the Civil War – but back to that later. What comes next in my history isn’t exactly exciting or surprising. After my brother left, I went off to the College of Winterhold to become a better mage. I really do like magic. To be able to conjure a flame with one’s hand is just…well it’s something that I never thought I would be doing as a child. Let’s put it that way. Plus the college has so much history. The library alone is filled with novels that don’t seem to exist anywhere else in Skyrim. At this point in my life, I’ve been studying at the college for a few years. I really don’t know what I’m going to eventually do with my life. Teach at the college, maybe? Become a Court Wizard? Well…no I don’t like that one. Politics. But let’s get back to the dragon situation. Suddenly there’s creatures that should be dead flying around destroying everything. My parents were actually in Helgen when the dragon decided to show up. I haven’t heard from them since. But how do you stop a dragon? Those things are so magical, I don’t think people fully grasp how screwed we are that they decided to stop being extinct. Hey…I guess they are the third party. They decided to attack Skyrim when we’re busy fighting ourselves – meaning we really can’t defend ourselves from giant flying lizards that are able to breathe all sorts of magic on us. Eh…we’re screwed, aren’t we? PERSONALITY Uh…what else is there to say? You know my history. But me? Well – I like the color blue. I’m a fairly well-read individual – especially considering I’m fairly certain that large parts of Skyrim cannot read. My favorite types of magic are destruction and restoration – opposites, I guess. I’ve been studying illusion magic recently, though. I…am terrified of wolves. Since I got attacked as a kid, I get a bit jumpy around them. I’ve been trying to get better – especially since Skyrim is filled with the beasts – but I’ll honestly take a dragon to a wolf. Well – that’s not true. A dragon would probably scare me more than wolf – but at least it would be more enjoyable to fight…without horrible flashbacks to my childhood. I’m not choosey at all when it comes to food. Most people get annoyed when I try to explain something. I tend to get caught up in my own thoughts and talk in circles. Either that or I stammer over my words a bit. This is why I’m not a very ‘people’ person. I am a cynical, sarcastic bastard. That actually doesn’t contradict the above statement, really. When I’m worked up and trying to explain something, I do fall over myself. Everyday conversation, however, I tend to just be an ass – especially of the ‘smart’ variety. Because I’m more well-read than many, I do come across as a bit snobbish and smart-ass-ish (technical term) on occasion. Yeah… SKILLS I am quite capable in destruction and restoration magic. I’m currently working on my skill in illusion magic, as well as trying to both strengthen and learn more wards. I like wards. They’re basically magic shields. I do partake in Alchemy to make basic potions, which I tend to sell to other students for a low cost. I wouldn’t say I have enough skill to open a shop in any town – but I know the basic potions and occasionally learn more. Enchantment is a somewhat recent interest. I’m not very good at it at all – but it’s something to learn. I think my favorite part is breaking down an already enchanted item to find out how it works. The soul-gem part makes me a bit uncomfortable. I do know the spell to capture a soul within the gem – but I often pay for the weaker ones from other students and professors, as I practice. I do have a bit of skill with one-handed weapons. I would lose against anyone who was very well versed in the art – but if my Magika is low, it’s always nice to have a fall-back, I guess. EQUIPMENT I’m a fairly simple man. I have a dagger that I tend to keep on me for ‘just in case’ moments. I also wear the College of Winterhold basic robes, which are slightly enchanted to help with how easy casting destruction magic is, and a hood that increases how much Magika I have. I do have a few odds and ends that I enchanted – like a ring that increases my health slightly. But since that is such weak enchanting, it’s hardly worth mentioning. |
