War is childish and petty. GUILDS (IF APPLICABLE). Thieves' Guild, Dark Brotherhood (currently) WITCH, VAMPIRE OR WEREWOLF? (PUT N/A IF NONE) Vampire SEXUAL ORIENTATION . Bisexual CANON (IF APPLICABLE) . NO. | [atrb=border,0,true] POSSESSIONS - Weapons Maniel carries around a ebony dagger, that was given to him by his father. It is his most prized possession, and has helped him in many contracts he has carried out for the Dark Brotherhood. If he isn't using his precious dagger, he's usually using a bow (orcish bow) and he tries to keep away from iron arrows. He prefers steel and above, but uses iron if he has no other choice. - Armor Maniel used to be in the Thieves' Guild, but they didn't appreciate his aptitude for killing, so he sought to join the Dark Brotherhood. He wears the traditional Dark Brotherhood armor (Shrouded Armor, Shrouded Gloves, Shrouded Boots, Shrouded Cowl). On occasion, when he's on a mission, he doesn't wear his cowl. He likes to use his vampirism to his advantage to intimidate people. - Potions Maniel tries to keep a steady supply of fire-resistant potions, since he's more vulnerable to Fire Damage than mortals. He prefers draining the energy from his enemies than healing himself using Restoration and potions. He rarely uses stamina potions, unless he's sprinting to get somewhere. Otherwise, he tries to keep all his attacks stealthy and lethal so he doesn't have to use much potions. He also tries to keep a small supply of invisibility potions so he can sneak past people without being detected. - Miscellaneous Maniel tends to pack lightly, so usually all he has is his gold, and his journal as well as his other objects described above. Every once in a while, he'll find precious gemstones but he usually sells them off to merchants, trying to get money when he's not doing jobs for the Dark Brotherhood. SKILLS - One-Handed Maniel absolutely despises two-handed weapons. They're clumsy, heavy, and in his opinion, they just look stupid. Why would you lug around some huge thing when you can do double damage and use two swords or daggers? - Illusion Maniel has practiced in the school of Illusion ever since he was young. He isn't an expert by any means, but he is pretty well-versed in Invisibility/Muffling spells. He found this would have came in a lot handier with the Dark Brotherhood, since the Thieves' Guild is more of the break-in type. He often uses invisibility spells to sneak up behind targets and slit their throats, then recede into the shadows. - Archery He isn't as good at archery as he is with one-handed weapons. Usually if he has to use a bow, he keeps far away from the enemy just in case there's more, so he can hide and strike them from far away. He also dislikes archery because there's more of a chance to run out of arrows. You can't run out of daggers. - Sneak Being an assassin, it's mandatory for Maniel to be skilled in stealth. He usually looks for all kinds of signs that would let someone know he's near- whether it be bear traps, pressure plates or even those annoying swinging blades that try to julienne you in half when you try and run through them. He's not a fan of the mammoth heads or bone chimes, either. He can be deadly quiet when sneaking. Maniel is slightly androgynistic so his slightly feminine and petite body allows him to be a lot more graceful and have lighter steps. - Alchemy When Maniel was younger, he used to make a lot of potions with his mother. He practiced making potions every day (some of which weren't successful), and eventually he was making impressive poisons and potions. Today, he usually makes poisons to use when he goes out on contracts. - Light Armor Maniel uses ONLY light armors. He wears his Dark Brotherhood armor everywhere, and doesn't give a damn if people know about his profession. Before he joined the Dark Brotherhood, he usually used leather armor that he made himself. He's not a fan of smithing, though, and usually only buys supplies if he wants to keep his dagger in shape. HISTORY Maniel was born to Birane and Amarie Rolston on the 20th day of Last Seed, 4E 177. This was two years after the White-Gold Concordat was signed. His family moved to Skyrim just before it was signed, which you can guess was HORRIBLE timing to take a "vacation". He looked a bit girly, and was picked on by the other kids in his village, because they thought he didn't look like he would be able to swing a sword. Of course, the little guttersnipes were proven wrong. When Maniel came to the edge thirteen, his father began teaching him how to fight using a dagger. Swords were kind of heavy for the poor kid. After training every day with his father for almost 2 years, he was deadly with a dagger. He just hadn't killed someone yet. His father gave him the ebony dagger he then used constantly for years. One night, there was a bandit raid in his town and Maniel fought off at least three of them before having to retreat. His parents were killed that night, as well as a number of other people. After the bandits left, he followed them from a distance and killed every single one of them out of revenge. He was enthralled by the feeling that came with killing out of revenge, and he wanted more of that feeling. Perhaps it didn't have to be out of revenge, but whatever that thrill was, he wanted more of it. After he left his hometown, he traveled to Riften at the age of 16 and began doing small jobs there. Eventually he joined the Thieves' Guild (at the age of 18), and he began doing even more jobs, but bringing in a lot more coin than he did with the other jobs. Unfortunately, one job went wrong and he was caught. Not knowing what else to do, he panicked and killed everybody that lived there. The Thieves' Guild was beyond livid with him, and he was forced to leave, since his little escapade caused them to lose a client. He left Riften for a long while, and usually stayed in small inns, or found caves/mines to sleep in. Unfortunately, he picked a really bad cave to stumble into. He found Broken Fang cave just outside of Whiterun, and contracted Sanguinare Vampiris. But he decided he wouldn't fight off the disease and get it cured. He let the condition spread and became a vampire. His eyes turned red, and he received fangs and a very pallid complexion. During the night, he prowled the streets of cities and broke into multiple houses to feed on the sleeping citizens. During the day, he retreated back to various caves, killing whoever resided in there and used it as his temporary home. When he had killed enough without remorse, he was contacted by the Dark Brotherhood, and accepted enthusiastically. He was relieved to know that they accepted people like him. When he went on contracts, he usually wore his cowl up until the time he had to address his target. Happy to know people were intimidated by his vampiric appearance, he stuck with that route when targets were getting unruly with him. He was ruthless, heartless and undeniably bloodthirsty. Many of his contracts ended up being dinner for him, and he particularly liked when he had to go after girls. To him, women were weaker than men and more susceptible to his intimidation. PERSONALITY Before Maniel's parents were murdered, he was usually light-hearted and carefree. Life was simple for him and he liked it that way. He was slightly eccentric, which contributed to him being teased by the other kids in his hometown. After the White-Gold Concordat was signed, he pretty much despised both sides. He hated the Stormcloaks for starting another war and making the roads unsafe to travel, and he hated the Thalmor for even getting into Skyrim's business. In all reality, the whole war was stupid in his eyes. He grew paranoid about everybody, and kept himself very guarded, not wanting anybody to get into his head. After the Thieves' Guild kicked him out, he didn't feel like there was anything else he could do. He began getting suicidal and after he was attacked by the vampires, he decided he still wanted to live, but he did let the bloodlust take over his mind. He became moody and rash, snapping rudely at people who tried to talk to him. Those who pressed him, ended up dead (either by being bitten and drained, or just having their throats ripped out. It depended solely on how much they irritated him.) After the Dark Brotherhood asked to have him, he was beyond grateful and decided he would make the most out of killing the poor sods that had to deal with him. He was sadistic as hell, and enjoyed seeing the blood pour out of his victims as he slaughtered them. He got even more satisfaction if he was able to feed afterwards. If his target was in a secluded area, he usually drained them of their blood and left them there for the skeevers to finish up. If not, he got out of the area as fast as he could. |
