Also known as "How to Not Suck at Writing Like Luke Does" or something along those lines. I'm collecting a ton of fun writing resources that will help your writing improve a lot. I tried to pick those that were relevant to roleplaying, character development, or the topic of Skyrim/medieval stuff in general.
I'll update this list as I find new resources/you give me new resources.
Have fun sucking less at writing/collecting bitches with your writing skills!
Character Traits
This is super handy for getting your character's life and personality in order. It has boxes for their appearance, personality, family, mental disorders, hopes, aspirations, and everything else. If you're planning out a character or have a character that you'd like to get in order, then I'd totally recommend this thing.
Other Words for Said
If you need some other words for "said". Remember that you should use these only when they're appropriate. For more on how NOT to use variety with other words for said, read "My Immortal” by Tara Gilespie.
50 Problem Words and Phrases
Give this one a look-over. If you keep in mind what words you're using, you'll seem at least 20 percent cooler smarter.
Plague Words
A super-duper useful list of phrases that are often used and often wrong. Look it over and avoid those suckers, unless you're some kind of anarchist (which you're not... when the Dragon women Admins are around).
Right in the ‘Feels’
If you can't come up with a word for just what your character is feeling, this has categories for all sorts of basic feelings (happy, sad, angry, afraid, etc.) for varying degrees of intensity.
PaperRater
Obviously no checker is going to have a 100% accuracy, but I'd run your posts through this just to make sure they don't suck -- they check your spelling, grammar (within reason), word choice, style, and the big-boy words you use. If your posts are lacking in vocabulary, you'll seem a lot more like a 13-year-old boy writing Naruto fanfiction (read: Rig just kidding) than a roleplayer. That's a bad thing.
Really interesting words to brighten up your writing!
This is a list of big-boy words that will make your dinky little post seem less like bad fanfiction and more like National Geographic! (Protip: Don’t be a douche and attempt to fit Floccinaucinihilipilification into any of your posts.)
D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y
I JUST REALLY HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE FUCK THIS UP. So now no one has an excuse to fuck it up ever.
The Universal Mary-Sue Litmus Test
I’m pretty sure ‘No Mary-Sue’s!’ is somewhere within the rules, but this is just in case. Just to be extra safe, if you think your character might have a trait, mark it anyway just to be sure. WITH THIS, WE CAN BURN THE SUE’S! (Like Morrigan)
Realistic Sword Details
This is a pretty interesting read, and it's especially relevant to the site. If you're not a sword guru, I'd look this over to make sure your fightin' writin' skills are accurate (enough). Also, just as a side-note, all of the swords in Skyrim (with the akaviri katana as an exception) are based on real world german-longsword design. So, don’t worry, the article’s relevant.
Writing Realistic Injuries
Also pretty relevant to the site. If your character sustains an injury, this is going to help you work out exactly what that injury is like and how to relate it well. (Also, word to the wise: If your human breaks their leg, they're probably not gonna just walk it off.)
Spice Up Your Writing With Dialogue
You're roleplaying. Odds are you're going to be using quite a bit of dialogue (or monologue, if you're picky). This is useful to show you how to write dialogue like a big kid
DarkCopy
It's green text on a black background, which can be made full-screen to eliminate distractions. It's incredibly simple and it's a lot easier on your eyes at night than Notepad, and you don't have the stupid chatbox to distract you with all their shenanigans.
Write or Die
A program essentially for psychopaths, write or die will fuck you up if you stop writing. Don't be a pussy and have it on gentle mode, either. Man up and put that shit on Kamikaze, so if you stop writing, your work will unwrite itself. A great way to satiate any masochistic tendencies. (Thanks to Indie for reminding me about this one.)
