Jericho had just received many complains that frost trolls were interrupting a few of the trade routes. With the Queen still wary and the steward busy with other things. He took it on himself to take care of the problem, as soon as he could finish positioning guards on patrols, position a head of the night watch, deal with General Tulius and the Imperials, focus on the defenses for Solitude and find a group not busy willing to use their free time to take on trolls rather than stay at home. He took the time think of who weren't busy and willing to do so, but literally no one came to mind. No guard in the right mind would risk their life to fight some troll unless the trolls were attacking the gate. He would just go and take a few hours to take care of the issue but the merchants mentioned there were ten in the area.
Jericho sighed, merchant trade was needed in order to keep food and money to continue flowing into the city. At least Violet wasn't in town needing archery training. First thing first, the queen wanted him to be at every war meeting in order to keep updated. Boy, did he hate being at these meetings. "Good for you to join us, Red Guard. Your duties are fairing well?" General Tulius asked Jericho, the moment he had wanted in. Jericho did not necessarily hate Tulius and the legionnaires nor their cause. But he did not exactly liked them either, but then again he was being paid extra to attend these meetings. "Yes, General. Patrols have been doubled and defenses have been raised. Though doing so will take considerable coin....Sir," Jericho answered to the General.
The large Red Guard, started to tune out the General after he started ranting about knowing his place. If the High Queen didn't need the General, Jericho would have already cut his pompous head off. The one thing he hated was being talked down to like a dog. Like he was when he was a slave. But he kept his calm look and relaxed tone. When the meeting was finished, he quickly walked out to the market area and began calling out. "Is there no adventurer bold enough to take on some trolls with me?! There is said to be ten in the mountain! The rewards is to hone your skill and glory!" After listening to the General's plan, there would be no guard or soldier available for sometime to care for the traders. Jericho had other ideals, but he knew he could not take on ten trolls alone. There had to be adventurer or two willing to take on this task.

[style=width: 370px; background-color:#966f96; text-transform: uppercase; font-size: 9px; padding: 15px; color: #cccccc;]KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND, KID ONLY BIRDS WERE MEANT TO FLY Solitude... The capital of Skyrim was a bit out of way for Cyrus, considering he tended to roam the south of the district. He preferred the warmth, if you could even call it that. But compared to the snowy northern half of Skyrim, the green plains were warm. the climate almost reminded him of his childhood in the heat of hammerfell, but when Whiterun offered no jobs, and neither did the rift, the reach or falkreath, cyrus had no choice but to head north. and his first stop, as always, was solitude.
it was the biggest city he'd seen, and as such, it was most likely to offer a decent job, and decent gold, which was the most important part. he had journeyed directly from his camp in whiterun, going by way of foot. it took longer than riding by far, but cyrus had always enjoyed the scenery. and he was in no rush. he had everything he needed on his back, and food was only an arrow shot away. thankfully, he'd encountered no trouble on the way, and he arrived exhausted, but completely unharmed.
the city was much as he remembered it. the marketplace was full, and perhaps the only true difference was that there was more guards wandering around. the war, of course. solitude was the center of the imperial legion's power, and by the looks of things, they were well prepared for any trouble. cyrus wasn't very up to date with how the war was going, nor did he particularly care, but he knew it couldn't be possible for the stormcloaks to be storming on solitude anytime soon. if anyone had asked cyrus his opinion, he'd say solitude were a little over-prepared, but of course, no one cared what a lowly redguard mercenary thought of the city's defenses. and so he kept to himself as he wandered around the stalls.
a sword had caught his eye, and cy lifted it to inspect it. it was fine work, much better than the one currently at his hip. he was about to ask how much when a shout caught his attention. returning the sword to the owner, cyrus turned his head, giving the shouter his full attention.
trolls in the mountains? it sounded like cyrus' kind of thing. but what made the slight redguard grin was the sight of his old friend. he waited for a full ten seconds after his friend stopped speaking, sure the much larger redguard would quickly be giving up hope when no one stepped forward and the crowd began to disperse, before speaking himself. "either out of boldness or stupidity, i will join you, brother." cyrus called out as he stepped forward, hand resting on the hilt of his sword in a casual manner. "i want no glory. only gold, if you have it."
he had managed to keep a straight face until that point, but as he got close to jericho, his lips parted into an easy grin. once he was close enough, he clasped the elder redguard's forearm in greeting. he hadn't seen jericho in some time, and cyrus believed it was more than coincidence that caused them to reunite now. "when do we begin?" he questioned, cyrus' eyes already alight at the prospect of doing what he did best.

The large warrior turned when he heard a voice that accepted his call for an extra hand for this venture. He quickly scanned the figure to see that it was another Redguard and a mercenary at that. That was typical for most Redguards in this province of Tamirel after all they were well known for the fighting abilities. Even, Jericho was once a mercenary before becoming a housecarl and general. He missed those times just living day by day with his brothers and sisters taking down giants, sabres, assassins, and other beings. He stood there as the smaller Redguard walked up to him and smiled to greet as though the smaller Redguard knew him personally. He gripped his arm firmly and took a moment analyze the young man's face. Jericho let out a loud and monstrous laugh when he finally recognized an old shield-brother.
"Ah! Cyrus! It's has been quite some time young brother, not only alive but bold as well to come face to face with the General of Solitude! You're venture must be many and most bountiful! Come!" He said slightly boastful only give a friendly reminder of what his ranking was, he did after all have a reputation to uphold now. But patted Cyrus on the shoulder as a Brother-at-arms gesture and released his firm grip. He moved to the front gates expecting Cyrus to follow. As he walked he was greeted by folk around the area and in turn acknowledged them by waving his hand, not as a sign that they were below him but more of he was busy and couldn't greet them properly. But he was in a joyous mood, it wasn't everyday he was able to see his 'kin' in Skyrim and in Solitude of all places.
Redguards including himself stayed in areas where their talents could be really utilized for the maximum amount of gold. Though guard work was good pay, most Redguards really enjoyed their freedom to do as they pleased to cut down an enemy in the most gruesome or swiftest of manners usually only taking orders from what they consider the stronger of Redguards, at least that was how it was Jericho when he was a mercenary. Solitude was structured and outside himself, it nords and imperials that were throwing the orders around. It was often that he would catch himself ignoring orders from everyone but the High Queen, though it was uncertain to even him why. As for the gold, with the High King dead and the imperials more focused on the war and defenses. There was almost no gold to spare for sell-swords or any kind other hired warrior help.
"Sadly to say my friend, there will only be glory and the feel of battle for this. There will be no coin to be made today, young brother. But when did you reach Solitude? Do you wish to rest? If you do I will find another's aid in this or take care of this myself. These trolls hunger for my blade, who am I to deny their need to feed?" He said jokingly at the end. "So what say you?"

[style=width: 370px; background-color:#966f96; text-transform: uppercase; font-size: 9px; padding: 15px; color: #cccccc;]KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND, KID ONLY BIRDS WERE MEANT TO FLY "Jericho." Cyrus greeted his old friend, grinning widely at the man before him. Of course, Jericho wouldn't hesitate to remind him of his position within Solitude's walls. General.. To Cyrus' ears, it seemed too much. He had never been a fan of organizations, Imperial military included, but the respect he had for Jericho made him look past his dislike. The fact that Jericho was boasting only made Cyrus' grin widen.
He listened to his elder speak, nodding slowly as he heard there would be no coin. Disappointment crossed his features for only a second before his face lit up again. He had been itching for work, and although there would be no monetary reward for this deed, Cyrus hoped there would be at least something to gain. He wasn't usually one to look for selfish rewards, but he had been out of work for a long time. On top of that, taking on ten trolls was a big risk with nothing to fight for. But he couldn't back out now. Jericho would never let him back out of it, and it wasn't the Redguard way. All Cyrus could hope for was that returning successfully would bring him attention from someone who need a swordarm for a job, and thus earn himself some gold.
His mind whirred through all of that while Jericho spoke. He should have realized that Solitude itself would be running low on coin. Approaching one of the richer lords would probably turn out to be more profitable, but Cyrus was committed to helping Jericho deal with these trolls first. "I do not need rest. I only arrived this morning, but I am eager to fight." He nodded confidently. "I will accompany you, brother. Gold or no." His grin widened at the elder Redguard's joke. "Aye, and my swords are calling for blood. The sooner the better."
"It's been some time since we've fought together last. I hope you haven't let yourself get rusty." Cyrus teased, his grin turning mischievous. He doubted very much that Jericho had let his skills go to waste over the years. In fact, if Cyrus was truthful, he would admit that Jericho looked better than ever. Being an officer looked good on him. If Cyrus wasn't so stubborn about remaining a lone soldier, he might even be tempted to follow suit. "When do we leave? I have all the supplies I need." He didn't know if Jericho had to pick up his own things, or if he was ready to leave the city now, so Cyrus thought it better to ask. He wanted to get back out into the wilds and do some slaying. It had been too long since he'd fought at Jericho's side.
