She couldn’t believe her eyes.
Elmira sat frozen on horseback at the sight she had just come across, light blue eyes taking in the scene. Until a few months ago she had thought dragons a mere legend, as every other Nord did, but that legend had become a reality. Unfortunately for her, she had stumbled across a dragon while she was on her way to Whiterun. While her horse pawed at the ground in nervousness, Elmira stared straight ahead, struck by what she was actually seeing.
Scattered around the dragon was what had once been what made up a giant camp. Three Giants and their four mammoths lay dead around the dragon. From the look of the dragon, there had been quite the fight that had taken place, and it had blood running from various wounds. So…even dragons could bleed…what an interesting bit of knowledge. Until now, she hadn’t been so sure of that fact.
Though she knew she should go, Elmira was frozen by the savage beauty of the creature before her. It seemed to notice her moments after she had noticed it, swinging its head to watch the odd trio that stood watching. Almost instantly the hackles on the back of the wolf rose, a growl sounding from deep within its throat. Elmira could feel her own mouth go dry while she continued to sit there and stare at it. “Down Storm.”, she managed to whisper out to the wolf, tightening the reins on her dappled mare. Feeling her apprehension, the mare took a few nervous steps backwards and tossed her head.
Almost instantly the dragon roared. Though it seemed to have some difficulty with it, the dragon launched itself awkwardly into the sky and flapped its giant wings to give it the propulsion it needed to lift off the ground. Almost instantly it swung toward her, roaring once again while it came toward her at an alarming rate.
Jerking at the reins to turn, Elmira kicked her mare in the sides a little more harshly than normal, sending the horse jumping to run away, her wolf on her heels. While she bent over the neck of the mare, she un-slung her bow from off her back and checked behind her to see if the dragon was still there. Unfortunately it was. Forcing her mare to skid to a stop, Elmira turned and studied the beast before her, before quickly notching an arrow in her bow. If she wanted to become a Blade, she was going to have to do this same thing. Drawing her string back, Elmira aimed for a moment and let her arrow fly, notching another quickly while she waited to see the results of the first. From the roar that she could hear, Elmira figured her arrow had hit the target.
If she lived through this, it would be a miracle. Words; 607 Muse; Good! our days are never coming back , hope you don't mind me snagging this c: [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 390px; padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px;]if there was one thing that ashira hated most of all within skyrim's reign, it was the constant conflict between stormcloaks and imperial soldiers. as someone who stood in the gray area between the two armies, ashira could see what either wanted and what their ultimate goals were, but at the same time, it was so much easier for her to point out the flaws in their rules, and plans. the idea of being prosecuted simply for worshipping a man you considered to be a god was beyond ridiculous- then again, worshipping anyone in ashira's eyes seemed a little pointless, and a waste of time. she'd much rather believe in whats in front of her eyes, and thus far, none of the princes or gods had shown themselves to her.
she'd been hiking back towards riften when an ambush of imperial soldiers surrounded her. the second she saw the colour of their armor, she knew not to raise a weapon, considering she had no reason to fear them. unfortunately, she was looked down upon for her attire, and was immediately given several questions about where she acquired the forsworn armor, and if she's involved with anything pertaining to them. it took several tries for the men to get a response out of her that didn't involve her uttering curses or threats, but finally, she gave them what they wanted, and told him that she'd looted the fur from a forsworn woman who'd attacked her. it was light gear that didn't make any noise when worn, so it was perfect for her usual line of work. the men did another circle of stating their opinions about sell-swords, but ashira didn't listen; she was more complex than most of the other mercenaries in skyrim. just because there was gold attached to it didn't mean she'd be willing to carry it out.
when she was finally allowed to part ways from the four men, ashira couldn't stop feeling the urge to look over her shoulder. so, after a few more moments of feeling like she was being watched, she ducked into the trees off the main path and continued on her way like that. as soon as she was surrounded by nature, she instantly felt ten times safer, and although she didn't completely relax, it was easier for her to breathe out.
for the first few hours, at least. it came as a surprise to hear a tremendous roar shake the earth underneath her feet, and when she directed her attention towards where the large noise had come from, her eyes widened in surprise. a dragon. at first, her joints seemed to lock, and all she could do was watch as the dragon lifted off the ground, flapping its bloodied and torn wings in order to turn on the woman who had stumbled upon him first. she wanted to know what was going to happen, but as the dragon started to swoop towards the horse and its occupant, ashira's heart started to pound rather harshly within her chest.
no thoughts raced through her head as she sprang into action, her quick speed applying perfectly as she started towards the giant's camp, already reaching for her bow off her back. as soon as she was close enough, ashira raised the bow and pulled an ancient nord arrow from her quill. drawing it back, she held her breath to try and properly line up her shot with the movements of the dragon, before releasing her right hand, sending the arrow soaring. she didn't look to see where it struck, if it did, before she was already on the move again, positioning herself opposite to the nord, hoping to give the dragon a more confusing aspect of the battle.
quickly, she cast a glance towards the blond, narrowing her eyes a bit as her head came down in a small, brisk nod of acknowledgement. almost as quickly as the nod was made, however, she had reached for another arrow and was lining it up. after taking the shot, watching this one make contact this time, ashira was about to reach for another arrow when the dragon turned on her, releasing an even more angry roar than the one that had drawn her attention. widening her eyes, she froze, unsure as to what the beast was going to do. its mouth opened, and as soon as ashira saw the hesitation in its movements, she knew what was about to come blasting in her general direction. grabbing onto her bow, she threw herself out of the way, rolling off the dive with her shoulder, quickly getting back to her feet. the ice that had been shot towards her was now clinging to the ground in a pile of chilled ice, its creaking and breaking almost covering up the sound of the dragon's wings, descending to the camp's surface once more.
it was close to the nord now, but that didn't stop ashira from grabbing another arrow and reading it, just in case the woman needed some assistance. |

With her bow still raised, Elmira notched another arrow and narrowed her eyes while the dragon came toward her, flying low and roaring loudly. Yes, if she lived through this it would be a miracle. Notching another arrow in her bow, she narrowed her eyes and sighted down, holding her breath a moment before she released it the same time she did her arrow, and almost thinking she had seen another arrow flying from behind. That wasn’t possible though…right? Elmira quickly put it out of her mind in the circumstances. It had gotten close by that point, and Elmira abandoned attacking it for the much more needed escape from harm. While she held her bow firmly in her hand, the Nord jerked at the reins of her mare and bent low over her neck, the dappled mare needing no other encouragement to leap to the side and flee before the low flying dragon could kill them. Because it seemed to be hurting still, the dragon had a hard time angling, and Elmira had a few moments to regather herself, another arrow appearing notched in her weapon even as she forced her mare to a stop and turned her around.
It was at that moment she noticed the Khajiit that was opposite her. So that was where the arrow had come from before? Probably. While she gulped for a breath and reined in her mare hard to keep her under control and to keep her from bolting, Elmira nodded back to the Khajiit and quickly abandoned any type of sociality to keep an eye on the dragon while it flew back to come again at them. Okay, this was it. Hopefully this Khajiit was strong enough to help, and with the two of them they might have a chance at taking this dragon down. After all, the giants had already weakened it, right? They should be able to at least deal a heavy amount of damage.
And it was moving toward the Khajiit with swiftness. Muttering a curse under her breath, Elmira once more sent her mare sprinting toward where it was moving away from her. Looping her reins around the saddle horn, she sat straight backed and sighted her arrow carefully, sending it flying right as it wanted to breathe ice at the Khajiit. Well…that distracted it from her unknown comrade, but now she suddenly realize that the dragon was once more coming toward her, and it did not look happy… Oh great. Bending low over her mares neck once more, she angled the dapple to the side, and reached back for yet another arrow. Hopefully they would have enough to finish it. Thankfully she kept many arrows on her person…but that didn’t mean that she couldn’t run out. If she could just have enough to be able to at least harm this beast, that would be wonderful.
The roar she heard after she released her arrow was satisfying, even though she wasn’t sure if she could escape this coming attack. Her mare had finally had enough, and as the dragon came at them, mouth open to spout ice – or so she assumed from it having done so before – she bolted to the side, a terrified whinny sounding. The blonde did what she could to stay on her back, tightening her legs and grabbing for her reins again. She couldn’t blame the mare for fleeing really, and the quick movement to the left probably saved her life, since the ice that had been meant for them scattered on the ground and remained there. And so the dragon landed, weak from its injuries, though Elmira couldn’t be certain of that. While she got her mare under control once more, her wolf seemed to have a desire to attack the dragon by himself. While she swung her eyes toward the dragon, she noticed the ice wolf of hers latched on and growling up a storm while it tried to rip at the scaly outer hide. She then spared a glance to see if the Khajiit that had stopped to help her was alright or not. Hopefully she was.

our days are never coming back , i'm sorry this is so short! i didn't want to god mod or anything, so i hope this works c: [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 390px; padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px;]her adrenaline was pumping at an unthinkable speed, and everything seemed almost slow. the dragon had started to come towards her, and the arrow that ashira had readied was now useless. holding her breath, she squinted her right eye and aimed, releasing the forsworn arrow into the beast's head. luckily, the arrow that her nord partner had sent off was enough, combined with hers, to make the dragon steer clear of unleashing his frost-wrath upon her. ashira hated the cold as it was, but she had no where to duck and cover for an attack like that.
but now there was a bigger problem on her hands; it was swooping towards the nord who'd saved her life. notching another arrow, ashira moved up in her position as she readied it, doing her best to work against her footsteps movements to get a clear shot. as soon as she could stop, she released her right hand and sent the arrow off, quickly returning her attention to approaching the horse and woman. luckily, just as she was getting there, the dragon grew tired and touched down onto the camp's outter surface. quickly, she slung her bow back around her quill, hands lifting the ebony swords at either of her sides to take its place.
catching the nord's eye, a little thankful that a stranger was this concerned if she was alright, she nodded once more to the woman in her rushed footsteps. "come on, we need to take this thing down." she ushered as she passed the woman, allowing her wolf's distraction to slip behind the dragon. it's tail was furiously swooshing from side to side, making it hard to get a good stance behind the reptile, but as soon as she saw the nord get ready for joining the attack, ashira didn't let it bother her train of thought.
raising her right arm, she started to spin, pulling her arms down one at a time in slashes across the dragon's back leg and the start of it's spine. the distraction up front wasn't good enough to mask the pain it felt from the dark blades cutting into its hide, however, and the dragon quickly snapped it's head to the side, catching ashira by the back of her forsworn armor, and tossing her forward with a hard jerk, before going back to taking on the two in front of it. as she landed, ashira tried to tuck herself together, making the rolling motion she knew was going to come easier, but nothing prepared her for the impact.
groaning when she came to a stop on her stomach, she slowly started to try and regain her eye's focus. blinking the blurs away, the sounds of the battle started to kick in again, and realization set. grabbing the closest ebony sword, having lost both in the midst of being flung, ashira pushed off the ground and sprinted towards them in hopes of helping if the dragon wasn't already lifeless by the time she arrived. it hadn't even occurred to her that the fur above her right eye had started to stain with blood. |

[/div] And I'll learn how to fly. I'll do what it takes, 'till I touch the sky. TAGGED: Ashira WORDS: 512 Elmira was thankful after a moment that her mare had bolted to the side, as it had given her a moment to collect herself. Heart pounding, Elmira got her mare under control and realized that her knees were slightly shaking. Despite having seen a dragon before, this was the first that she had fought, and she realized now why people feared the now living legends. Nothing she had ever hunted had ever been this powerful, not even the frost trolls she had taken down. With her breath coming in ragged gasps, she continued to cling to her horse, her only ability to flee from the dragon if need be, since she couldn’t very well have any hopes of getting away on foot. At that moment her wolf chose to attack the grounded dragon.
With a throat that was dry from the excitement, Elmira’s eyes sought out the Khajiit that had been helping her, and had saved her in the short time that they had been fighting this thing. Thankfully she seemed like she was okay, even giving her a nod back. Chiding herself for being such a weakling, Elmira stilled her shaking hand and reined her mare back and around toward the dragon. This Khajiit was right, they should take, no, needed to take this dragon down. With the Khajiit quickly running past her, Elmira turned her mare and did the same thing, sending her toward the dragon even as her wolf kept it occupied. Elmira didn’t worry about the wolf. It had been her constant companion for two years now, and was as quick and lively as he could be. He’d be living after the rest of them were dead.
Seeing the Khajiit thrown to the side as if she was some rag doll caused concern for her, but there was nothing Elmira could do right now aside from distract the dragon, who even now looked like it wanted to follow up the onslaught and attack the fallen Khajiit. Spurring her horse forward, Elmira notched an arrow and took aim. It seemed as if time seemed to slow while she did so. Taking a breath in, she held it for a moment, and then released it when she allowed her arrow to release from the string. It seemed to hit right where she had been aiming, catching the dragon right above the eye.
With a bellow, it reared on its hind legs and swatted at its head. “It’s eyes!”, she shouted at the Khajiit. “Blind it!” That hadn’t been her original idea, but now that it was being so effected by an arrow to the eyes. The wolf still snarled and snapped at the dragon while she reined her horse closer. She was debating on whether to stay long ranged or to slide off her mare and attack with her sword. For the time being, Elmira simply got another arrow and tried to take aim for the same eye while it flailed around. Unfortunately for her, it was a lot more challenging than she wished, what with it being nearly impossible to get a clear shot. THE PUREST FORMS OF LIFE OUR DAYS ARE NEVER COMING BACK tagged elmira, with 543 words, wearing this. i hope this is okaaaay~ feel free to time skip to when she's waking or whatever. i'm not a picky person when it comes to that kinda stuff c: [STYLE=background-color:#191919; width:325px; height: 350px; overflow: auto; font-family:Arial; color:#aaaaaa; text-align:justify; text-transform:lowercase; font-size:10px; opacity: .8; padding: 10 10 10 10px;]words couldn't describe how thankful ashira was for the distraction that the nord and her trusty stead had accomplished. whatever she'd done, the dragon had a furious reaction to it, but it sounded much more weakened now. it got ashira's adrenaline pumping harder, and the cool chill in the wind didn't register to her any longer. luckily, the nord's words did, and after a moment of patching things together, ashira nodded in response. she understood what their best chance of defeated this beast was, but that didn't mean ashira was quite ready to throw herself at the thrashing dragon's mouth. it could swallow her whole if it so desired, and that wasn't something ashira was too comfortable about- which is exactly why she'd ran to it's legs, instead of his neck, beforehand.
but, given the circumstances.. raising her right hand, she went to grab for her bow, but only found her quill. even so, her arrows had been tossed when she was thrown, along with her bow. sighing, she clenched her ebony sword tighter in her left hand before she sprinted forward, her right hand ready to grab onto anything she could to use as leverage. The dragon's thrashing about made it harder to navigate a good spot to grab on, but as soon as ashira found an opening, she dug her claws into the scales of the dragon's shoulder. with the help of digging her blade a few good inches into the dragon's neck, she used her right hand to hoist herself up. ashira didn't linger, however, before she was throwing herself onto the dragon's neck, her thighs struggling to keep a tight grip on the beast as it started to attempt and shake itself free of her annoying weight.
shimming up the dragon's neck, she angled her bloodied blade, coming up behind the beast's head. it wasn't that good of an angle, view-wise, but ashira was going to take her chances. switching the grip of her sword to her right, her more dominant hand, she raised it as high as she could before using all her weight to bring it back down. the sword sliced into the dragon a few inches above it's eye, but nonetheless, it roared from the sudden added pain and pressure. however, the khajiit wasn't finished. she wasn't going to be satisfied until it got what it deserved- if ashira lost any of her ebony arrows because of this beast, she was going to be extremely livid.
with a struggle, she tore the sword from the dragon, not giving it enough time to knock her off before she lodged it back into its skull, this time on target. unfortunately, after the initial blow was made, it did buck her off, and she once again came crashing into the ground, summer-salting into her back in a sudden, painful stop. but, as her eyes opened, and she blinked up at the sky, the sound of the dragon's lifeless body coming to a calm made a small smile drift over the khjiit's lips. but as soon as she'd fully regained conciousness, it slipped away from her again, and her eyes came to a slow close, her last sights having been slightly blurred from a drop of blood.

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
Elmira was thrilled that she had finally found a way to ward off the weakened dragon. She had been pummeling the body with her arrows before this, hoping to somehow pierce the skin enough to stop it. But the scales had proved to be much thicker than she had hoped, and so far, she wasn’t sure if her arrows had had any real effect. If a Giant hadn’t killed it, along with his two mammoths, Elmira had doubted for a few moments that the two of them could have any hopes of getting anywhere. Unfortunately for them, a dragon wasn’t likely to back down, and seemed just as interested in eating them now as it had a few minutes prior. That meant that it was either kill or be killed. She’d been in plenty of these situations over the years, but never with a dragon. Never…with a dragon. But now, blinded in one eye, the dragon was paying much more attention to the arrow protruding from its face than in the two females that were attempting to torment it.
Fitting another arrow in her bowstring, the young Nord scanned at the thrashing beast, trying to see beyond it and find where the Khajiit had gone. She didn’t know the cat for anything more than a companion that was helping her in a tough situation when she could have skirted around and fled. That in itself caused Elmira to be loyal and worried for the second female. With the dragon, Elmira couldn’t quite place her. She sincerely hoped that this Khajiit wasn’t lying somewhere, facedown and not breathing.
Obviously she was still breathing. Elmira furrowed her eyebrows at the sight that she was seeing. This Khajiit seemed to have a desire to dance with death. She thought herself courageous, but watching the cat stick her claws into the shoulder of the dragon and creep toward the front sent her stomach churning. This couldn’t end well…it really couldn’t. Besides that, she was hesitating in her desire to not miss her target and slam an arrow into the body of the cat that was clinging to the thrashing beast. With her arrow pulled back and ready to be executed, Elmira desperately wanted to be able to use it, but held back to avoid harming the khajiit or provoking the dragon while she was clinging to it. While it bucked, Elmira noticed the wound in the chest cavity that obviously had been torn out from the struggle before she had found it. Pulling her arrow back, she took one moment to aim before she let loose her arrow, burying it deeply into its chest. After that she sent a barrage of arrows into that same spot while the Khajiit concentrated on its skull. Gutsy thing, getting that up close and personal.
And finally, Elmira ran out of arrows. Cursing under her breath, Elmira flipped her bow back over her shoulder, sent her wolf after the dragon with a sharp command, and tore her dagger from where it was strapped into her waist. Sending her mare toward the dragon with a kick to the sides, Elmira bent over her neck, concentrated on the figure that seemed to be trying to split the skull of the beast. And managed to accomplish it. She was torn between watching the figure flying through the air or the larger one settling to the ground.
Was it really all over?
Reining her mare around the beast, Elmira reined her in where the Khajiit had fallen, before she dove off the back of the mare. With concern etched into her features, she knelt beside the female that had assisted her. Unconscious. Shaking her lightly, Elmira tried to wake her, but quickly figured out she wouldn’t be able to. So what now? She was going to have to care for the Khajiit until she woke up, that much was a given. And so she set about making a bed out of the furs that the giant had possessed. Elmira returned to the Khajiit and built the bed, before she rolled the other female onto it and covered her with blankets.
To pass the time, Elmira spent some time retrieving all the weapons that had been lost – including the arrows from where she could find them, or embedded in the beast. After they were piled back where the khajiit was, a fire was started, and her mare taken care of and turned out to graze, Elmira turned to the dragon and started to appraise it. Had…had the two of them really killed a dragon?
If she ever found the Blades, she would boast of this.

THE PUREST FORMS OF LIFE OUR DAYS ARE NEVER COMING BACK tagged elmira, with 804 words, wearing this. i was gonna add more, but i don't wanna kill you with length xD [STYLE=background-color:#191919; width:325px; height: 350px; overflow: auto; font-family:Arial; color:#aaaaaa; text-align:justify; text-transform:lowercase; font-size:10px; opacity: .8; padding: 10 10 10 10px;]no dreams lingered behind ashira's eyes as she grew more and more into her unconscious state. the last blow that she'd received had been enough to give her a minor concussion, but she'd survived a lot worse before. if anything, it was much needed rest that she hadn't been able to properly gather in a few nights. sleeping outside, although she was accustomed to doing so, was a weary thing to do by yourself. not many stray wanderers in skyrim would leave a sleeping khajiit by themselves; she'd more than likely be raided before anything else, but the idea of being skinned continuously haunted her.
when the heat of the fire, and the smell of the burning wood caught her senses, ashira slowly started to wake. at first, all she could feel was pain throbbing in the front of her head, but before she could raise her hand up to her forehead to inspect the damage, she slowly remembered how she'd come to be in such a state. fear shot throughout her, and with a lingering sense of panic stuck within the pit of her stomach, ashira straightened quickly, trying to pull herself to her feet to try and gather herself and her surroundings. she moved too fast, however, and her head started to spin profusely. at first it was something she thought she could ignore, but after her second step, she wasn't capable of straightening herself any longer. on her next attempt to step, she fell back down to the makeshift bed that the nord had made for her, and ashira slowly started to let herself calm down.
crossing her legs, she grabbed her ankles, keeping herself in a sitting position, closing her eyes. the throbbing died down as her dizziness started to drain, and when her eyes finally did come to open, she was capable of seeing much straighter. the fire licked the night sky from her angle, and ashira questioned how long she'd been out for. glancing to her left, her eyes noted her weapons, not really recalling as to how they had come to be detached from her body, considering they were practically extra limbs now. however, when her eyes grazed over towards the dragon's lifeless body, it all started to rush back to her again.
narrowing her eyes in thought, ashira slowly lifted herself back up onto her feet, stable this time. raising a cautious hand up to the right side of her forehead, her fingers brushed her stained fur, already knowing it was blood that had her fur slightly clumping; it was a familiar feel to her by now. frowning a bit, she tried to ignore how she might look with the red blood staining her white and black speckled fur, and pushed forward, transferring her thoughts to the dragon. it'd managed to take down a troll and its mammoths, but somehow, her and that woman had been able to take it down for good. weakened state or not, ashira felt rather proud, and as she stopped before the beast's fallen head, a bit of a triumphant smile pulled at her lips.
curiously, she crouched down, pulling her dagger from her boot. lifting the side of the dragon's scaled lip, she sized up the dragon's teeth, blinking in surprise. her tongue snaked around one of her own larger fangs, but it was nothing like the teeth she saw before her. its mouth was layered in sharp teeth that wouldn't have any issues tearing through skin- not that it'd need its teeth to kill someone. it's tail alone could do the job. sighing, she released the lip and wiped the bit of saliva from her blade before tucking it back into its secured spot, her only remaining weapon still on her person. straightening back up, ashira glanced over her shoulder, catching sight of the nord who'd stayed to make sure she was fine.
it warmed her heart, seeing a nord lend such a friendly hand out to a complete stranger. with her race, that was a big thing in skyrim. unfortunately, it prevented ashira from having too many friends that were born in skyrim, unless they were in the sellsword business, or had some sort of business she'd be dealing with in her travels. but any negative thought towards nords were put behind her as ashira greeted her with a bit of a nod, much like the one she'd given at the beginning of their struggle together. "thank you, stranger." she replied softly, glancing towards the spot where she'd been moved. "it would've been cold to wake up alone, without a flame at my side."
stealing a glance at the dragon, the smile curled over her lips again, almost expecting this to be some sort of dream. "i believe we've slayed a dragon."

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly Crouched beside the dragon, Elmira prodded at the scales on the side. Despite never having seen any bones or scales of a dragon, in the back of her mind, she figured that they must have some use. The Blades. Yes, if she ever did find them, she would want something to prove her prowess in battle. Though she hadn’t done this by herself, she still had played a part. With that in mind, she glanced over her shoulder at the Khajiit that had helped her. The female had been brave to get involved instead of slinking off and allowing Elmira to face the dragon by herself. Extremely brave. Perhaps without her, Elmira wouldn’t be where she was right now. After all, the Khajiit had some guts, just jumping right up on the scaled beast like she had. Elmira had a lot of gratitude for the other female. Hopefully she woke up so that Elmira could thank her personally.
Until then, Elmira was going to have to do something to pass the time. Unsheathing her dagger, Elmira knelt with one knee and her foot to anchor the dragon. Leaning forward, Elmira started to carve at the dragon. Despite the resistance on her dagger, Elmira continued to cut at the scale that rested on its shoulder. It took her some time, but after that time she had three good sized scales at her feet. And then she decided to get a bone as well. That took her longer, the hide and the rest of the dragon trying to keep her from the treasure within. Finally though, she had a dragon bone out and beside her. The size overwhelmed her. Finally she wiped her blade on the grass and slid it back into her sheath. Picking up the bone, Elmira stalked past the slumbering Khajiit. It didn’t take her long to find the stream that bubbled beside. Quickly she washed up the bone and her own hands. The whine from her wolf caused her to glance at him, before reaching to stroke the silky fur. “We did alright Storm.”
With the bone in her hand, Elmira started back toward her companion. She was surprised to see that the Khajiit had gained her feet and was standing by the dragon. Odd, but Elmira wasn’t sure what to say now that the woman was actually awake. Still, she continued forward, giving the female a returning nod, before placing her treasures down near her makeshift bed. “You’re welcome.”, she said softly, before she reached the Khajiit. “Thank you for helping me with this.” Elmira gestured toward the dragon while she said it, her blue eyes flickering between the two figures.
She found it just as amazing that they had actually managed to slay the dragon. “I do believe we have.”, she agreed with a smile. Glancing behind the Khajiit, Elmira once more drank in the figure of the dragon resting there, void of life. “My name’s Elmira Whitestone.”, she offered then, her eyes avoiding her companion’s gaze and dropping down to the wolf at her heels. THE PUREST FORMS OF LIFE OUR DAYS ARE NEVER COMING BACK tagged elmira, with 463 words, wearing this. sorry for the wait~ also, ashira's just acting defensive. as soon as she realizes elmira isn't like that, she'll feel really awful. if she was ever presented with the question, 'have you ever slayed a dragon?', ashira knew she'd probably act indifferent about the entire thing, or just not say a word at all about it. she got enough attention as it was, being her race, and for wearing the armor that she does. everyone usually took one look at her, and assumed something; she was a travelling khajiit, so she must be a thief, or the fact that she wore garments so close to that worn of forsworn clan members. just those two obvious assumptions instantly put her under a bad list for a lot more related things. many people didn't give her the benefit of the doubt before casting judgement, and boasting or mentioning even in the slightest that she'd helped finish off a dragon would only create more eyes.
the woman who stood before her, however, had needed help. and ashira hadn't backed away from it, just because she was a nord. she didn't like profiling anyone because of their race, so despite the fur that was sticking up on the back of her neck, she had gone against her first instinct to flee, and listened to her instinct to concur. because of it, she may have helped saved the nord's life, as well as her horse and small companion. and that was something to properly smile about, even if it was a little rare to show such emotions to someone she didn't know. "you don't have to thank me.. but you're welcome." ashira just hoped that one day, when she was in dire need, someone would be there to help her, no matter if she knew them or not.
when the nord gave her name, ashira's smile turned more genuine. "ashira." narrowing her eyes, she looked at how elmira had looked down, a questioning look crossing her features. "why do you lower your gaze?" she questioned in a bit of a heated tone. it had slipped off her tongue before she had a chance to hush it, and ashira offered her an apologetic look. "i take it that, now the beast's been slain, you'd like me to continue on with my travels so you can begin your rest?" this time, her tone was much more civil, though her words put it across that ashira was assuming she was almost like everyone else she'd come across in skyrim; they were grateful for her help when it was there, but as soon as she was done, she would have to move on, because they didn't want her around any longer. it was amazing she even owned a residence in riften because of the fact that she hated being in one spot for too long.
"just let me gather my things." .

Somehow Elmira found humor in the khajiit first telling her that she didn’t need thanks, but then giving her the ‘you’re welcome’ that she did. Why it was funny, she really couldn’t say. Perhaps it wasn’t funny at all, but it seemed to be to her anyway. Perhaps she’d been spending a bit too much time with her animals and way too little time around those of her own race. –though the khajiit didn’t fit that description, but Elmira was far from racist – After all, the cat like human could speak and move much in the same way as any Nord, Imperial, Breton, or Redguard could. To show that she’d heard the other female though, Elmira bobbed her head in a slight nod.
Now the introduction. Elmira really had been around animals too long, because she was finding it hard to look at the other female when she did so. Odd, how she could be so confident when she had a blade in hand and a target in sight, but as soon as either of those things left and she was faced with the thought of communication once more, she froze up. Odd indeed, and frustrating. At the same time, one couldn’t change how they had been their entire lives just by forcing themselves to, so Elmira focused on her wolf rather than the khajiit that had helped her while she was waiting for a name in return. And got one. Ashira. That was very typical of the breed, and Elmira found herself mentally rolling it around to pronounce it right when she did say it.
The khajiit didn’t give her the chance however. Instead of allowing her to say the normal ‘it’s nice to meet you.’, the female was already jumping to conclusions. When she was questioned about why she lowered her gaze, Elmira lifted her blue eyes. Before she could explain though, this Ashira seemed to be very fired up about her own thoughts on why Elmira wouldn’t look her in the face. The growl that came from the silver companion by her side was quickly silenced by the nord. While she struggled for a moment on what to say, Ashira decided that Elmira wanted her to leave.
Finally though, she moved. Catching Ashira by the arm, Elmira shook her head. “That’s not it at all. You’re more than welcome to share my fire for as long as you want.”, she invited, before she dropped her hand from the arm and gave her some space again. After another moment struggling inwardly to really come up with a reason why she couldn’t seem to meet her gaze, Elmira blurted out something that made sense. “I spend most of my time with my mare and the wolf.”, she tried to explain while gesturing to her companions. She wasn’t quite sure how else to explain that she simply found it hard to talk to people without sounding odd, so she shifted her weight between her feet a bit. “You should stay, it can be dangerous traveling in the dark, and besides, I’ve heard that dragon bones can get a fair coin. You’re entitled to it as well.”, she said while she gestured toward the body of the dragon.
