caspian battle-hound .
FULL NAME . Caspian Battle-Hound NICK NAMES . Cas, Battle-Hound, Hound. AGE & BIRTHDAY. Twenty-six years old, born on the twentieth of Rain's Hand. SPECIES . Nord. OCCUPATION . Soldier of the Imperial Army. STORMCLOAK, IMPERIAL OR NEUTRAL? Neutral. GUILDS. None. WITCH, VAMPIRE OR WEREWOLF? N/A. SEXUAL ORIENTATION . Extremely closeted homosexual, outwardly appears asexual. CANON . N/A. | [atrb=border,0,true] Equipment & Skills IMPERIAL LIGHT ARMOR His slight stature works best with light armor. He finds it easiest to move around in and it allows him to move quickly. His Imperial Light Armor is worn and scratched up, a bit frayed but it's strong and works well. The leather is old. He's had this uniform since he joined the military at sixteen. STEEL SWORD He keeps a steel sword bound at his hip constantly, even if he's not in his Imperial garb or even on duty. It makes him feel a bit less paranoid about his surroundings, which is.. uncommon. The sword is well cared for, not chipped or scratched. This is actually his third sword since he joined the army. Sadly, the other two broke after years of use. This one has only been around for a few months, which is likely the reason it's so unscathed. NOBLE CLOTHES His mother is a noble, despite his less than socially acceptable birth, given that it was out of wedlock. While his grandmother didn't approve of it, she didn't disown her daughter, and she went on to marry another noble, which left Caspian with quite a bit of inheritance. He wears darker colors and leathers with boots. IRON DAGGER He keeps a small iron dagger at his belt at all times, just in case he loses his sword somehow. It's a backup weapon, simply that, and he doesn't really do much else with it except simple daily tasks. HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT Caspian has fought hand-to-hand since he was young and knew how to throw a punch, even improperly. While now he relies mostly on his weapons during combat, he isn't afraid to use his hands if he needs, and if he's in a situation without the need for weapons, such as a bar fight, well, he's good at holding his ground and avoiding drawing his sword. SMITHING He avoids the smithy. People in general are annoying but it's worse if he has to ask for help for something, like sharpening or enhancing his tools of trade. Born under the Warrior sign, smithing comes very easily to Caspian. While he doesn't work on protecting himself and fixing his armor as much as he can, for his own lack of self-worth, he enjoys working on his weaponry. ONE-HANDED WEAPONS He doesn't use two-handed weapons as much as he's able to avoid them. He practices with one-handed only, such as axes, maces, swords and daggers. He avoids archery like the plague. Seriously, he's awful at it. He finds one-handed weapons to be easy and light and better for him to hack away at his foe. They're quick and allow him to move around more fluidly. BLOCK He keeps a shield on his left arm to defend himself against enemies. He's good at blocking and, if necessary, using the shield as its own blunt weapon. He avoids that, but he'd prefer that to dying. Maybe. He can usually hold himself against others without too much backlash, but he tends to stagger when he's against two-handed weapons, as they're heavier. He's broken his arm more than once from the weight. Personality & Family FATHER Caspian's father died a general in the Imperial Army just four years ago. Caspian always looked up to him and craved his approval despite never getting it. While young, he was a rowdy and aggressive child for reasons his father didn't understand and didn't really try to understand. He died without giving him approval, or even talking to him for seven years. Still, Caspian works for his approval without the hope of receiving it. MOTHER Caspian's mother was born and raised a noble woman. She and his father had a short, fleeting romance that neither expected to evolve to anything, and it didn't. When she became pregnant, they didn't marry, but went on their separate lives as expected. She married when Caspian was four. Currently, she doesn't work, but her husband works in politics. She doesn't associate with Caspian beyond occasional, apathetic letters. FATHER'S CHILDREN His father fathered four Nordic children with his wife, before his death.. obviously. Caspian isn't close with these children, and they don't consider him part of the family. All are military or something close to it, except for the youngest, who is but fourteen years old. Caspian was banned from the home when he broke the second youngest's arm, when pulling him away from the boy's lover. MOTHER'S CHILDREN His mother had six children with her husband. The youngest is ten years old. Caspian isn't close to these children, either. They're very different in what they do. He's heard rumors that one was a Stormcloak, but rumors, only. The eldest is working in politics like her father before her, but Caspian doesn't pay too much mind to any of them, and they seldom contact him, save for the youngest, who likes to send him occasional letters, detailing his studies. LOYAL Surprisingly enough, with his temperament, Caspian is exceptionally loyal to those he respects. However, it's getting into those respects that's the hard part. He has certain levels of it. The level that he won't bark at you for pissing him off because you're his superior, and the level at which you are someone he actually cares for, regardless of your standing in comparison. He's loyal as hell, despite everything. HARD-WORKING When he wants something, he works toward it. He has few ambitions and rarely anything truly for himself simply because he's 'worth it' or something, but what he does, he does well, no matter if he wants to do it, or if it's particularly unimportant to others. He works hard at what he does, he works hard at everything. He trains and he works constantly.. though that also can be because he doesn't have anything to do in his spare time besides more training. INTELLIGENT He's not an idiot, as brutish as he may seem. He had lessons when he was younger and he was exceptionally good at them. He favors chess, strategy and intellect, thinking before he plans an action, when he doesn't involve his emotions around actual people. Chess is simple, it's a game. Books are paper and leather and ink. He can keep his head straight around them. TEMPERAMENTAL He doesn't like people already, and it's not hard to piss him off because of that, and a mass of other things he'd really rather not talk about. He's quick to anger at even the slightest of things that might be seen as insulting or even just friendly, if you pick at him in a bad mood. He can go from calm to angry in a matter of moments without much help from one step to the next. BITTER He doesn't like you people and your happiness. He's bitter to your families, together and happy, and he's bitter to your comfort with others. He can't ever find comfort in other people, far too nervous about them stabbing him in the back, or worse. He can't have his own family. He has two, and neither really want him in the first place. This fuels a temper that's already unsteady, and causes him to hide himself away from others to the point that outings to taverns are a rare occurrence, no matter how good the ale is. VIOLENT Maybe it's a good trait for a soldier, but either way, Caspian is very violent. Easily riled as he already is, he'll likely be the first to bring an argument into a physical brawl. It's painful, sure, but he's full of self-hatred as it is, and violence is one way he ensures he's punished for his own stupidity and the shame he brings to his mother, and his father's name. Three More Things HIS DOGS True to his name, perhaps, Caspian has two dogs that follow him around constantly. Muire and Olrun are crossed with wolves and are rather large dogs. While loyal, they can be extremely aggressive to those they see as threats, even if those 'threats' turn out to be harmless. He sees his dogs as his family. They're there, with him, when his family hasn't been for years. He treats them much like humans and often trains with them. ONE SECRET Deep down Caspian realized he's homosexual, and it disgusts and terrifies him for reasons that will be later explained. He's so deeply in the closet that he doesn't even allow himself to admit it to even him, at least out loud. He doesn't let his eyes linger on anyone. He doesn't give in to dreams. He doesn't admit it. He doesn't even bother trying to pretend he's heterosexual. Sexual advances by women just make him uncomfortable and he shoos them away, irritably. He's happy for others to assume he has no interest in either gender, as he'd rather that he didn't, either. A DEEPER SECRET When he was very young, his father liked to host dinner parties. Caspian was often disgruntled during these events and found solace in a man that attended them, a much older man that liked to be his friend. When he was seven, the man took advantage of that trust and threatened harm if he ever told a soul, so Caspian kept so very quiet. And in his quiet, he kicked and screamed at others. He started fights and bit and yelled at them. He wanted someone to notice something was wrong, but it just caused his family to shun him more than they were. |
