GALMAR STONE-FIST . NONE OF ANY NOTE . 47 - 16TH OF FIRST SEED . NORD . STORMCLOAK SECOND IN COMMAND, HOUSECARL TO JARL ULFRIC . STORMCLOAK . N/A . N/A . HETEROSEXUAL . CANON . | [atrb=border,0,true] equipment galmar's always been fond of battleaxes, even in the days when he wandered around skyrim's wilderness. there's something in the beauty of chopping thing to pieces with a two handed axe that he just can't find elsewhere. his iron battleaxe is one he's had for years, and he keeps it in pristine condition, sharpening it carefully whenever he has the chance. he is almost always in full stormcloak officer armor (except when sleeping), since, not only is it an indication of his rank and status within the stormcloaks, he killed the bear he wore himself. he's aware that is no mean feat in itself, and wears it with pride. skills two handed has always been galmar's favored skill. he's strong enough to swing a two handed weapon with considerable power. light armor is another skill he excels in. he's not much for sneaking, but it is far easier to wear. he saves the energy he would spend wearing heavy armor to use in swinging his weapon. his time spent in the wilds as a young man taught him that archery is a useful skill, and he practices it on occasion so he doesn't get rusty, and he would be no soldier if he didn't know how to block. however, he's not much for defensive tactics. magic and speech are galmar's biggest pitfalls. he is no silver tongued lord, and subtlety has never been his strong point. personality brash. reckless. impatient. strong willed. independent. loyal. honest. tactless. outdoorsman. vigilant. untrusting. proud. headstrong. stubborn. rough. short-tempered. brusque. appearance galmar has never been a clean cut gentleman. he's rough looking, his light brown hair overgrown and untamed, and a short beard ever present on his jawline. he cuts an impressive figure, tall and strong, and isn't afraid to use his intimidating size to get what he wants. his eyes are a deep shade of blue, more intelligent and watchful than one might expect, and his nord complexion is lightly tanned from all the time he spends outside. all in all, one might say he was quite handsome, if a little rugged even at the best of times. l'histoire ∇ born in windhelm as the oldest of two sons to the stone-fist tribe. his younger brother, rolff, was born three years later. ∇ galmar's early life was fairly simple. his father was a talented huntsman, away for many weeks at a time to chase game in the south of skyrim. his mother made her own coin by bartering with the local merchants for whatever she could find to trade. she was a hard woman, and more often than not, was successful in her business ventures. ∇ at the age of eight, galmar began to be taught the ways of the hunter by his father. he took to the bow naturally, but the sword was his favorite. at least, until he came into possession of his first battleaxe. ∇ at the age of twelve, hunting with his father became a regular thing for galmar. he was also charged with accompanying his mother to the marketplace and selling their catches. it was on one of these trips that he laid his eyes on the first battleaxe he had ever seen. ∇ it took him two and a half years to put aside enough gold to cover the cost of the iron battleaxe. when he finally had enough to purchase it, his free time was spent learning to use it properly. thankfully for galmar, the old smith he bought it from was more than happy to help. galmar's father was little help as he had always used a bow and sword. ∇ rather than remain in windhelm to become a merchant or whatever else the city held in store for him, galmar instead decided to head out into skyrim to make a living off the land. taking only his bow, some basic supplies and, of course, his trusty battleaxe, galmar headed out into the world. ∇ living off the land was hard at first, but after learning a few lessons the hard way, galmar became something of a decent woodsman. before long, he was taking shortcuts through forests, and eating well every single night. he had no reason to return home or make a home elsewhere. the wilds of skyrim were his home. ∇ upon hearing that the great war had broken out, galmar had no interest in enlisting. he was content with the life he had made, and it would take a lot to change his mind. ∇ the divines had other plans for him, it seemed. one night while galmar camped by a river, a bear came from nowhere and attacked him. it took all of galmar's strength and knowledge to slay the best, and not without significant damaged. bleeding and wounded, galmar managed to make it to the next city to enlist in the imperial legion. admiring the young man's determination, they allowed him to, though he was not to fight until his wounds had healed. ∇ being nothing more than a foot soldier didn't bother galmar. sure, there were some orders he didn't agree with, but the war experience was good for him, and he proved himself an able soldier. ∇ perhaps the most important thing galmar feels he took away from the great war, however, was the bond he made with other soldiers. one such man in his contingent became galmar's steadfast friend after galmar picked him up off the ground and taught him to swing a sword properly. it didn't take long for galmar and the other young man, ulfric, to become something akin to brothers. ∇ when ulfric was captured, galmar was distraught. he tried numerous times unsuccessfully to free his friend, only to begin losing hope as the imperial legion fell. he returned to windhelm for a short time, before embarking on his travels across skyrim once again. there wasn't much enthusiasm left in him, however, and when galmar heard rumors that ulfric had arrived back in skyrim, galmar eagerly mdae his way back to windhelm to aid his friend. ∇ being made housecarl was an honor galmar did not expect to be bestowed upon him, but he accepted it all the same. his loyalty to ulfric was, and remains so, unwavering. ∇ for years, galmar has served ulfric, being both friend, guard and brother to windhelm's jarl. he was glad to receive the position as being second in command of the stormcloak's during skyrim's civil war, and takes it seriously. he refuses to show mercy to those who sympathise with the legion and dominion, and, if he had his way, would steamroll his way to the thalmor and destroy as many as he could before falling. only his loyalty to ulfric makes him remain patient. |
