BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in the West Weald of Tamriel, Erthor and his father worked as merchants selling fake Ayelid artifacts to whatever gullible customers they could find. Keen Daedra worshippers, the rest of Erthor's family lived in and around the various shrines of Tamriel, devoting their lives to their favoured princes. Erthor's mother worshipped Hermaeus Mora whilst his uncle worshipped Sheogorath. Erthor himself had tried to appease Clavicus Vile for many years, but it was his father's devotion that changed Erthor's life forever. Molag Bal, the daedric prince of domination had corrupted many of his followers into submission. Seeking a way to please his master, Erthor's father brought his son to Coldharbour, Molag Bal's plane of Oblivion and offered him up as a sacrifice. Erthor's memories of the ritual that ensued are vivid, despite his constant effort toforget them though for a time he was unaware as to the true extent of his vampirism.
Erthor's father, envious of his son's new abilities, abandoned Molag Bal and instead made a pact with Hircine, hoping to acquire Lycanthropy. However, before the 'gift' could be acquired, Erthor found his father and murdered him. Following this incident, the Hassildor family was torn and a blood fued began. One side of the family sided with Erthor in exchange for the gift of vampirism whilst the other; now calling themselves the 'unafflicted', chose to take arms against the vampiric Hassildors. However, rather than a battle taking place, most of the disputes took place politically and no blood was ever spilled until a gathering of vampire hunters (hired in secret) forced the Hassildor's to flee Cyrodil.
Erthor then travelled to Skyrim and took residence in Dragon's Bridge, occasionally resorting to Illusion magic to deter suspicion. For many years Erthor worked as a Blackbood Marauder alongside Jaree-Ra after a series of Imperial Guards advised him to steer clear of the argonian. Treasure-hunting was an applicable occupation and it was during these escapades that Erthor became adept at wielding a sword, combined with his enhanced vampiric strength. It allowed him to feed off hostile bandits and navigate deep, dark barrows and caves in search of gold without exposure to the delibitating sunlight.
Unfortunately the time came when Jaree-Ra began to become slightly too suspicious of Erthor's true identity after working together for a series of years without so much as a single sign of ageing in Erthor. The young Breton soon left the stone walls of Solitude and Dragon's Bridge and journeyed across Skyrim, working under various sorcerors and witches. He discovered some of the secrets of the Glenmoril Witches and studied the forgotten arts of the Dwemer (albeit with little success). Finally he found himself in the city of Winterhold, and enrolled himself in the Mages College there. Years later and Erthor had managed to become an expert in the arts of Destruction and Conjuration magic whilst secretly feeding off some of his colleagues and the residents of Winterhold whenever necessary.
PERSONALITY
Despite most vampires being regarded as 'monsters', Erthor is a kind and intelligent individual. His Breton and Vampiric blood can make him seem uptight or self-superior at times and after spending many years in Solitude and Cyrodil, he has developed some strong Imperial views and dislikes the notion of a Stormcloak insurrection.
SKILLS
Vampire: Erthor is a pureblooded vampire and what his father called a 'Son of Coldharbour', sometimes as an insult. With this comes a variety of attributes and respective weaknesses. He is able to transform into a Vampire Lord at will (but rarely does so in fear of being discovered) and depending on the amount of consumed blood in his veins, he can seduce others and become invisible at will. Excellent night-vision contrasts with a fear of water and despite being resistant to frost magics, he has a weakness of fire and heat, especially sunlight.
One-Handed: Years of being a Blackbood Marauder have taught him how to be an expert at dual-wielding swords, preferably if they're quite light. He detests using heavy weapons that are made from heavy metals, such as warhammers or even maces, and he finds shields to be cumbersome.
Destruction: To most vampires, the concept of fire being conjured from the palm of a sorceror's hand is a terrifying sentiment. Unless the vampire is the sorceror. Erthor has studied magic for years, under a variety of apostate masters and eventually the college of Winterhold and has almost mastered the arts of fire, frost and shock.
Conjuration: Erthor's necromantic capabilities more than compensate for his lack of competance in summoning atronachs. Being undead has allowed him to understand the concept of raising the dead whilst his bitter memories of encounters with Daedra have stunted his willingness to conjure their kin.
EQUIPMENT
Blades of Hassildor: A pair of unique weapons that closely resemble a Vampire Lord's sword in both appearance and ability. Erthor had these swords forged for him many years ago and has hidden them away ever since. They allow him to drain the lifeforce from the enemies they strike, making feeding a much quicker process.
Silver Sword: A relatively sturdy ceremonial blade that Erthor carries. Despite not being a member of the Silver Hand, he shares their bitter resentment of werewolves and therefore wears this sword to demonstrate these views, despite rarely unsheathing it.
Vampire Armour: The simple garments of a vampire, Erthor rarely wears them in public but chooses to fight in nothing else. This apparel is light and does not restrict movement whilst also offering some resistance against weapons and magic.
