FULL NAME . Elenwen NICK NAMES . None she would claim AGE & BIRTHDAY . 52; 22nd of Sun’s Dawn SPECIES . Altmer OCCUPATION . First Emissary of the Thalmor of Skyrim STORMCLOAK, IMPERIAL OR NEUTRAL? Imperial GUILDS (IF APPLICABLE). Thalmor WITCH, VAMPIRE OR WEREWOLF? N/A SEXUAL ORIENTATION . Assumedly heterosexual; treats herself as asexual CANON (IF APPLICABLE) . Yes! | [atrb=border,0,true] Key Skills +Destruction: An absolutely top-notch sorceress among the Altmer of Skyrim, Elenwen is both powerful and has essentially perfect technique with her destruction magic. There's not terribly much needed to be said here. Just...don't get in a duel of magic with her. +Illusion: Though not as highly powerful in the school of illusion as the school of destruction, Elenwen is nonetheless a creative and skillful user of illusion spells. Her strongest areas within the school are in the realm of causing fear to targets, sending them into a frenzy, and providing herself with invisibility. +Heavy Armor: (Alright, TES wiki, if you say so.) Elenwen's expansive training as an elite youth among the Altmer saw her also taking combat training suitable to justiciars. Thus, despite her femininely proportionate and graceful frame, her surprisingly strong shoulders can hold up heavy armor and still allow her a great deal of movement due to a technique taught in the training. There's no clunky armor banging around when Elenwen wears it. +One-Handed: The above training also provided her with extensive experience with one-handed swords that can be used in conjunction with magic. Again, Elenwen is doing no flailing around with a sword as many do. She strikes only when there's opportunity and necessity for a kill. +Speech: And lastly, as First Emissary, a highly public position in Skyrim, Elenwen obviously has to be a master with words and the walls they can both build and destroy in a time of war. She was an eloquent and skillful speaker even from a young age, and experience has brought her to a point of excellence in the realm of speech. --------------------------- Weapons, Armor, and Belongings This section will be light, as Elenwen does not carry any specific set of weapons nor wear any set of armor during her typical duties. If she wants a blade or a set of armor for some purpose, she will be given either on the spot. Instead, she wears very fine Thalmor robes and matching clothing that enhances her magic and paints her a very impressive picture due to her height and grace. --------------------------- Personality Lots of c-words apply to Elenwen. Cold. Calculating. Callous. Confident. A b-word applies to her for several who regard her in a poor light. The fact of the matter is, Elenwen is undoubtedly a very self-important woman who has very little compassion for those who align themselves against her and against the Thalmor as a whole. Having spent time as an interrogator and growing up with a father who treated her more as a specimen than anything, her ability to sympathize has been rather screwed with over the years. She always seems to be hiding a hand hiding a knife that is to be used at the most opportune time. She would essentially - and possibly literally - step on anyone who she finds it advantageous to step on. Do not pass in front of something Elenwen desires. Being an easily-seen figure of Skyrim, Elenwen buries her coldness underneath a rather elegant and, dare it be said, warm air. Undoubtedly, she has been well-trained in etiquette and that training pays off considerably when she's throwing one of her parties or working to make a light snip back at a verbal opponent. A close watcher can perceive the slight signs of dishonesty evident in her manner, but her attractiveness and grace has fooled many, even those of her own race. She has all necessary to make herself seem as a rather cordial ambassador, though again, she always seems to have that knife hidden in her hand. Elenwen may be considered a miserable bitch by many, and in several ways she is exactly that. Part of this can be blamed on a rearing that taught her that elitism is the only way to go. She is not an explicitly miserable person, though, and can be quite reasonable and considerate at times. Having grown to rather value the love of her father, and with that younger Elenwen still present within her, she carries with her a few of those same vulnerabilities that she felt when her father had a second child and granted her a great deal of attention. Elenwen simply ignores those feelings for the most part now that she is more mature and experienced, but they do exist somewhere in there, possibly fueling her to hold tightly to her cold and elegant persona to avoid exposing any potential that her near-perfection could have some taints to it. That would be a far greater loss than her "humanity" to the Altmer. --------------------------- History Bred as a result of the high standards for Altmer children of the Summerset Isles, Elenwen was born the only child to a prestigious sorcerer of the Aldmeri Dominion and a youthful, far younger Altmer woman valued primarily for her great beauty. If ideas on how the Altmer select children are to be believed, Elenwen undoubtedly passed each of their tests with flying colors as a youth and became nearly the singular focus of her father, who had been ridiculed for his failure to produce offspring given his high status and talents. Elenwen barely knew her mother, who was thought of as a mere vessel for Elenwen's birth before essentially being shoved into the background of her life. Clearly, there was not enough time for Elenwen to be a child. At a very young age, she was already being taught the basics of sorcery and learning to speak with eloquence as opposed to the mumbling expected of a typical child. Her father wished to quickly see the voices silenced as to any inability he may have had to produce a child that could reach the lofty expectations that he had set throughout his career. Elenwen was provided with the finest education and was expected to treat that education almost as a religion. There were times when Elenwen did resist some rearing, but despite her father's almost Spartan discipline in his efforts to see her magical talents advance, her beauty grow, and her knowledge expand, Elenwen thought much of him. As she matured, Elenwen took to thinking that his constant pressure on her came from love. Her youth went on much like this, with her father attempting again to produce a second child who could achieve as much as Elenwen had by the time she had reached her teen years. Jealousy would take to Elenwen despite the other child being much younger. Despite the fact that the other child wilted in her half-sister's shadow, Elenwen saw any attention granted to her by their father as a betrayal. As if she hadn't been working herself thin before, Elenwen became more focused on her studies, and, as early as was possible for Thalmor students, she completed those studies. To her great chagrin, though the outside praise from the Thalmor increased, her father would continue to turn more and more of his gaze to the younger, less impressive child. Elenwen, as a way to regain his attention, began her career with the Thalmor as an interrogator - a position that required great skill, though not the one that her father wished to see her take as a sorceress. She spent a year receiving the strict training of a justiciar. Almost coinciding with her rise into the ranks of the Thalmor was the beginning of the Great War. Both Elenwen and her father were pressed into service, she remaining as a torturer and he assisting in a combat and adviser's role. It was during the war that an Imperial soldier knowledgeable in the Way of the Voice known as Ulfric Stormcloak was captured and held. Elenwen, despite her youth, was tasked with the interrogation and torture of this rather important prisoner. He was the sole subject in her charge while the Altmer held him, and once she was informed that he would be allowed to escape, Elenwen knew it would not be the last she heard of him. The war would soon end, but Elenwen's father would be found a casualty. The Thalmor would offer her the opportunity to take his place as a sorceress of the Dominion. With her only attachments being to the half-sister she had begun to outright despise after their father's death, Elenwen would agree to take the position. With her work as an interrogator and jealousy ingrained in her psyche, Elenwen would begin the methodical work of stepping over her fellow Altmer in the Thalmor and advancing herself. Having all of the key physical and intellectual facets expected of a Thalmor, the work to rise to the top proved rather simple. It was no surprise that, after years of various service, she was elected to a position as an emissary to Skyrim. This was several years before the rumblings of war began, and due to her excellent grasp of strategy and extremely diverse range of skills, Elenwen continued to work her way up into the position of First Emissary, the position of highest esteem among the Thalmor representing a region. Elenwen's name quickly became notorious due to her parties and relentless pressure against the worship of Talos. The war began, the result of the efforts of one Ulfric Stormcloak. Elenwen moved quickly to increase her grip on Skyrim after the death of the high king. Well aware that not even the Imperials were typically fond of her work, Elenwen secured her position with her greatest allies and increased Thalmor presence in Skyrim. Many have come to suspect her plans. |
