History:
Some are born into prosperity, some are born into desperation and others still are thrown into the world, then discarded upon birth. K’elvas was the later of these, born unto Sca’theras a Khajiit whore whom sold her body to feed her addiction to Skooma; K’elvas was abandoned and left for dead at birth due to his mother’s crippling addiction to the drug. Alone as a new-born kitten, the child would mewl insistently unable to function properly and needing aid in some manner; lucky, a passerby heard the cries some two hours later. It happened to be one of the few remaining members of the Thieves Guild; whom had been scavenging for scraps to feed herself and her brothers. The woman’s maternal instincts would not allow her to abandon K’elvas, despite her attempts and apologies; adopted into this new family, K’elvas would be raised through a surrogate family of Dunmer, Bosmer, other Khajiit and the occasional Nord or Breton.
Life was always hard, it was years of being brought up under the freezing winters of the Nordic region; the heavy snows of Skyrim killing off those that could not manage to steal enough food to feed themselves. K’elvas was lucky, most members took pity on him as a child, passing him bits of bread or meat that he could scarf down; not to mention that even as a child he showed some prowess as a hunter. The Khajiit used smaller bows to hunt small game like pheasants or crows, which he showed no qualms in eating, even if it was raw when he did so. Survival did away with any pride he had in appearances most years; he tossed it all aside, acting like a true savage when it was necessary. K’elvas was often sick as a child due to this, prompting interest in the alchemical works and giving him time to read when he was too weak to provide for himself.
At the age of thirteen, K’elvas ‘acquired’ his first alchemical set, a few mortar and pestles, flasks, a retort and an alembic. Overjoyed at his gain, the young man put to practice studying not only the process of making poisons under one of the more knowledgeable members of the guild, but also ensuring that he nabbed any books that he could on the alchemical process. Enthralled by the various uses and effects that potions could have; he set to work sell the make-shift items that he could manufacture, seeing as the more advanced ingredients were often out of his reach. Small vials of health and mana were the easiest to craft and sold the fastest, making septiums was easy enough and soon, K’elvas was repaying the debt that he owed to the Thieves’ guild, but it wasn’t enough, not in his eyes.
Two years later, K’elvas would find himself truly initiated into the Thieves Guild, as a fully functioning member; he found himself uncertain of his place. Growing more and more fascinated with the idea of alchemy and magic; his eyes and ears turned towards the College of Winterhold. Intrigue grew to obsession, a fiery twinkle in his eyes anytime anyone so much as mentioned the College. It was eating away at him and at night, he dreamed of nothing but the castle of mages wandering through their studies. Determined, he found his handler and informed him of his desire to work as an agent under the guise of a mage within the College. Both weary and fascinated by the idea of being able to rob the various enchanted items or magical artifacts that could lay within Winterhold’s walls, the handler discussed it over with other Thieves Guild members. K’elvas was given permission to take his leave and to insert himself into the college.
Having no real background or name aside from the one that K’elvas gave himself; he left with the blessings of the guild and what gear he could travel with on foot. Making the journey to the College alone and narrowly avoiding death several times by thankfully being faster than most predators. Arriving cold and energy, the Khajiit presented some of his more refined alchemical products to the College of Winterhold along with performing some small magics that he had learned. While not impressed, the mages allowed the male to enter and begin a new life, surrounded by all the knowledge and information that he could ever hope for. The last five years have been difficult, as the Khajiit has studied under grueling professors and practiced magic almost constantly; however, he has found ways of maintaining the skills that his old family left to him. Generally by playing pranks or cheating on tests in elaborate ways that most of the professors could never imagine actually being performed. His most recent involving two chickens, a scamp and the willing accompaniment of two of his fellow mages; it worked, though apprentices are no longer allowed to bring animals into the college without the approval of a teacher.
Currently, K’elvas has reached the rank of Conjurer and is allowed to sell his wares, though only those he crafts through alchemical purposes; which many of the professors agree is his strongest point. If not for a remarkable thesis regarding the qualities of Nirnroot and how they can be combined with rat-tails, potatoes and dragon-lilies to form curative potion to an ailment, K’elvas might still be at the journeyman rank. Yet, because of his work, they’ve allowed him a ‘theoretical’ rank, claiming that while as a mage, he is only slightly above the journeyman mark; as an alchemist, he is far enough along to be considered an expert or possibly a master in the craft.
Appearance:
K’elvas is a five foot, five inch tall, Suthay Khajiit; one of the numerous forms of Khajiit that exist. Smaller than most Mer, K’elvas has a more decidedly human-like appearance with exaggerated cat-like features. Covered from head to toe in a ‘orange tuxedo’ network of fur, K’elvas is predominantly colored with white and auburn fur. Where this is most noticeable is around his face, where the right half is colored in orange fur over his pink colored nose and his left half is pure white; meanwhile, the underside of his jaw is auburn down to his neck where it turns back into an white coloration. Both of his hands exemplify this as well, as the across them is orange to the paws, where it white once again, leaving him to look like he is wearing a suit of some kind till his hands. While K’elvas is primarily orange in coloration, making him more of a ‘house-breed’ of Khajiit, his eyes are clearly feral in their yellow-amber coloration and cat’s eye slits.
While K’elvas is not of any intimidating stature, the male Khajiit with his long tail and clearly defined upright ears is more of a match than some might think. Having spent most of his life scavenging and running through the snow to hunt; K’elvas is toned to a healthy muscular physique, hiding a primal body underneath his clothing and fur. Both of his legs are long and spring, enabling him to leap where many others couldn’t imagine getting to. His hands are calloused and ripe with sinews that allow him to grasp nearly any surface with ease, making him an expert climber like most of his race. Generally alert, K’elvas flicks his ears almost constantly, letting the cat-like structures be like a second set of eyes for himself. His chest, meanwhile is very small, though defined, giving him a sort of skittish appearance do the way he holds his small shoulders inward and away from everyone else.
Personality:
K'elevas is a complicated khajiit of numerous senses and manners; each of these springing from his more than sophisticated upbringing of upper nobility and the greatest of class. He enjoys nothing more than a good wine, served cold with a slice of cheese while embarking on a discussion of the economic principles of selling chicken eggs versus simply allowing them to hatch. Now, please disregard all of that as it is utter horse-crap that was written by K'elevas himself in attempt to seem more 'refined' to his professors at Winterhold.
Putting it bluntly, K'elevas has a care-free spirit and a sense of wonder about the entire world around him. While he expresses very little of it, at times his child like amazement at the small things, such as a flower blooming through the snow or a new type of spell being cast is enough to bring a twinkle to his eye and a slight bounce in his step. On top of this to give K'elevas more of a boyish persona, he enjoys simple things in life like a good meal, a good joke or prank and most of all a good story. If you can spin a yarn or just happen to be a bard, K'elevas admiration and fascination with you will never cease.
Yet, K'elevas knows when to be serious when he needs be. Most thing during studies and actual creation of potion, most of the joy will run out from K'elevas's face. All of his focus and concentration on the task in front of him; his demeanor and continence will perform a complete 180 leaving him to seem like a joyless old man, complete with snapping responses to anyone who would dare disturb him. This is also true when K'elevas slips into his former thief guild persona; at times he can express joy while like this, but when doing a job, he is cold and efficient to the highest degree of the word. He takes pride in his work nearly to the point where he can no longer find happiness in it; granted, the celebrations when it is finished are legendary in their own right.
K'elevas due to his studies as a mage and upbringing by the thieves' guild has a keen eye for valuables of both the average and magical nature. These objects also have a habit of 'vanishing' when he is around; he covets valuables as he has always been a poor man and seeks to find something so valuable that he can live the rest of his life in ease, studying magic and never having to steal again. On the other hand, he finds bliss in a job well done as a thief, the more challenging a job, the more likely he is to feel accomplished once it is over. He gets a sort of burst of energy, a natural high from the work and pursues it from time to time, as if he is addicted to the act. The same can be said of his alchemy.
Overall, K'elevas is a kind young Khajiit, he has no desire to bring misfortune onto anyone and only pulls pranks when he believes no one will be harmed during the act. As a thief, he sees only the benefits that others will glean from his illicit actions and finds himself trying to produce potions for the greater good. While he can come across as selfish as he never truly voices his child-like idealism; he feels at times that he is trapped in a world that is decaying about him and that there is no cure. Keeping this to himself, he tries to remain as positive as he can, though he snaps from time to time and displays anger and discontent with his position. Mostly, this comes from frustration at not being able to learn as quickly as he wishes.
Equipment:
Light Armor:
Being able to move quickly and effectively is paramount to K'elevas's position as a thief; as a mage now, he is generally dressed in the Winterhold robes of dark blue and brown with tinges of grey. This provides excellent cover in the snow; however, it also covers the armaments that he wears beneath them. On any occasion, K'elevas will dress down in a Elven chest-piece and leggings, as they are both easy to hide beneath his robes, easy to move in and incredibly easy to store way in a special place beneath his bed. Granted the set of armor was stolen as a 'bonus' on one of his thieves' guild missions.
Hunting Bow
Sometimes the best things in life are the simplest and K'elevas has made sure to do just that. His own bow was something that he carved with his own two hands when he thirteen and has kept ever since. Though the bow is slightly too short for K'elevas to gain maximum shooting power; he can still produce enough energy to kill a man or most wildlife with a quick pull of the string. Most who notice the bow will notice how well it is kept. After nine years of usage, the bow is in perfect condition; the wood being sanded down with a complete lack of splinters or roughness; the strings made from horse hair and 'oiled' with skeever fat.
Dwarven Dagger
Sometimes you find a rare item, sometimes it finds you. K'elevas was stabbed with this weapon by someone who caught him stealing. He was dumped into a lake with the dagger still buried into his chest. K'elevas was fished out by his partner and nursed back to health over the next several days; he still carries the scar and the knife as a reminder of what happens to failures in the thieves guild.
Various Alchemical ingredients and tools
K'elevas knows how to make a make-shift alchemy station anywhere and everywhere and he never travels without at least some basic components in order to craft a cure poison or health potion if it is needed. A wise man travels prepared, a wiser man prepares for the preparations.
Skills
Sneak
Khajiit are sneaky bastards, they walk around on padded feet, their bodies are designed to fit into small spaces and most can see in the dark with ease. K'elevas has turned his species trait into an art form, young, agile and swift; K'elevas's foot steps never make a sound, he passes through snow with no indication that he had ever been there and subconsciously leaves no trail behind him when he moves and always does so in utter silence. Having been a part of the trade of thieves for nearly thirteen years; the male is in no danger of being caught fro making too much noise.
Alchemy
K'elevas adores it, he practices it every day and has written a thesis on it for Winterhold and its applications. Saying that K'elevas was any less than an expert in the craft would be an insult to him and everyone else in the field. He still has more to learn, which he eagerly laps up with a great deal of delights. Still, he has a desire to prove that it can be more than just a craft for thieves.
Archery
K'elevas is a hunter, K'elevas knows the flow of the wind, the drift of the land and the feeling of the snow beneath his feet. His shot is smoother than any skooma, sweeter than moon sugar. K'elevas sniffs the air and knows when the game will be good; so leave K'elevas alone about his bow or he might just put an arrow between your eyes at a hundred paces.
Pickpocketing
Shiny things, yes, K'elevas loves shiny things. He sees the glimmer in the pockets, unprotected and lonesome. Oh, come here my little pretties, K'elevas will find you a more secure home, in his pockets. No one hears him coming and no one feels a thing, K'elevas is in and out and gone before anyone feels the weight missing. At least with coins and daggers, swords and armor are tricksy.
Lockpicking
Pesky locks, K'elevas no so good with the variety of shapes and sizes that they come in. Usually break four or five picks before I can finally go in; K'elevas prefers to just wait for fool to open door and leave, then he sneaks around them or find a window to crawl through.
Conjuration
K'elevas is a studying magician and attends as many classes as he can. While no where near anything of importance in the field of Conjuration, he knows enough about the craft that he can summon smaller spirits and animals without much fear. Skamps being his personal favorite.
Destruction
Pretty-sparkling balls in hand always make K'elevas grin; he enjoys watching fire, lightening or ice form on his finger tips. Of all of them, he feels a close affinity with that of lightening and studies it more intently than the other two. While at a level where he could be considered a journeyman in the craft, K'elevas is rarely confident enough to cast at anything more than a training dummy.
Illusion
Thievery and Magic often times overlap and K'elevas is not the only mage in the thieves' guild nor the only thief in the College. K'elevas was trained in illusion spells while he was with the thieves' guild as a way to augment his talent when he was younger. Now he takes part in the more advanced classes as it is his most advanced magic. Most spells in the illusion field are open books to him, invisibility and charm spells are cake-walks, which often aid him in his pranks around the campus. Invisibility plus Enrage and a piece of airborne food equals an afternoon of entertainment.
Alteration
K'elevas is forced to study this and is an utter novice in the field. He knows about enough to make a floating candle when necessary; otherwise, he is utterly hopeless.
K'elevas knows bits of the other two schools as well, but no where near enough to even attempt casting any of the spells.
