[/div] tagged: open words: 707[/div] it had only been a few days since he had last been in the sanctuary, but it felt as though it had been so much longer than that. as much as it pained him to leave his wife and unborn child alone in their home in solitude, taros knew that he would never be able to stay away from the brotherhood for very long. he had tried leaving once and it felt as though his whole life had torn apart. his wife obviously had no idea of his past, of his connection to the assassins that had now become his family, part of his whole world. it would be impossible for him to leave, if only because he knew where he belonged, he knew what he was to do with his life and, as unorthodox as it seemed, was killing people. he has contemplated many a time to tell his wife; to confess his profession and let her decided whether to stay or go. now, however, they had a child on the line and taros couldn't risk that, it wouldn't be fair to the poor thing. hardly even starting life to find out its father was a blood thirsty assassin.
he could only imagine the reaction that his precious wife would have. she would be horrified, a woman of such purity. it pained him to know that she didn't know all of him, he had vowed to mara that he would protect her and be completely honest with her. but even the divine herself would have to understand his situation; why he couldn't tell her?
as he ran his hand over the stone walls of the sanctuary, standing in the middle of the main room, just scanning the area, he thought of all of the lies he had spoken to her. whenever he left he told her it was simply business - he told her that he sold fur coats. and he did! that at least wasn't a lie. he did sell the fur that he would gather whenever he went on his little 'trips'. however, that's not where all of their gold came from, but his wife didn't need to know that. she could just carry on thinking her husband an honest man who sold bear and wolf pelts when in reality he was hunting more than just beasts.
some trips he would find himself much to wounded to make the trek out home in time and would send her a letter saying he was injured by a bear or something along those lines. more often than not, when he did sustain an injury, he got it from the person he was assassinating. things did go wrong every once in a while, in his line of work.
letting out a heavy sigh of frustration, he let his hand fall before he ran it through his hair and took a seat at the table, quickly grabbing some ale and chugging it back before putting the bottle down. he seemed to be alone in the sanctuary, his only assumption being that everyone else was out doing their jobs, which is what he was supposed to be doing. in fact, he was supposed to packing his necessities before heading out before sunrise. but that obviously wasn't going to be happening for another hour or so.
as much as he enjoyed the peace an quiet of being alone, he found himself getting lost in his thoughts, and that was something that taros shadowblade never wanted. his conscience was far to guilt ridden for him to stay within his own mind for very long. so, he lifted the ale to his lips once more and finished it off before throwing it at the wall and watching it shatter into hundreds of shards, his frustration showing through for that moment. he didn't feel bad for throwing the bottle, the sanctuary walls had seen much, much worse.
after he had throw the bottle, he heard shuffling coming from near the main entrance. furrowing his eyebrows, she immediately pulled out his daggers and held them close to his sides, "hello?" he called out before taking a step towards his possible assailant, "astrid?" he paused as his blood red eyes scanned from one side of the room to the next, "babette?" notes: my poor baby taros. El had been lurking around Falkreath for awhile. Specifically, she had been spending many days near the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary there. It wasn't that she had any interest in the gang of assassins. No. She was much more happy to stay among the thieves. So why was she near the Sanctuary? Simple. She was on a mission. Somehow or another, Eleri had been sent on a job in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. This was easily her scariest job to date. Usually, she faced little more than some time in jail, which was much easier to get out of than people assumed. But when messing with the Dark Brotherhood, she faced death, something she was not exactly afraid of, but also something she wasn't looking too forward to dealing with.
For days, she sat outside, barely sleeping and barely eating, keeping watch on when people left. She kept her sights set on who all was in the guild. She tried to figure out who the leader was, who she could fool, who she could not fool. She looked for people she could take in a fight, and who she would lose against. The analysis ran together, causing her brain to hurt a bit. However, she would deal with the pain for the gold. But she swore to Nocturnal, if she didn't get an extra reward, she was going to hurt the person who requested this item. She didn't know who it was, but she would find out. And when she did, they were in a world of pain.
By her count, there was no one in the Sancturary when she left her hiding spot. Standing in front of the intimidating black door, she shuddered. Just looking at it freaked her out. Then came the voice; "What is the music of life?" The voice instilled fear into her very bones. Shaking, she spoke. "Silence, my brother." If someone were to hear her voice, they would know she didn't belong in that group. She sounded far too meek, something she hated to admit. The door opened for her, and she entered, closing it behind her, careful not to make a sound in case she was wrong.
The bosmer clung to the shadows. She refused to be seen. It was why she was dressed in the uniform armor of the thieves guild. The colors, though more fitting to hiding in nature, were darker than her other clothing. Besides that, the armor hid her face, making it harder to recognize her, and would, hopefully, protect her from any harm that might come from her. She stayed in the corners of the place she was stealing from as she roamed from room to room, making sure she was alone.
Assured of her Solitude, she stepped into the light a bit, and started on her mad search for the item that needed to be taken. She made fast work of the first room she had come upon on her way back around. It wasn't there. She looked through what she assumed was the main room. No luck. She looked through an area that was up some stairs. Nope. She searched the entire sanctuary with no avail. Eleri was all but ready to give up. "Where is it?" she asked aloud, yet softly as she returned to the main entrance, preparing to go through a second time. Maybe she missed it the first time. However, she stopped dead in her tracks, hearing the shattering of glass. The breaking of the glass was followed by a voice. She had been caught. "Shit!" No one was supposed to be there. She hadn't even heard to door open. She removed an arrow from her quiver, and pulled the bow from her back. Usually, she left it resting on her pack of arrows. She knocked her arrow. Eleri crept a bit, holding it down. She would wait to shoot until she needed too. After all, thieves didn't kill while on missions.

[/div] tagged: open words: 503[/div] as he sat there in his own misery, trying to wrap his head around his life and how he was going to manage once the baby showed up, he could sense another presence in the sanctuary. he figured it was probably one of his fellow colleagues, but when he heard the rustling, he realized it was someone not welcome in his home. having been surrounded by the people for so long, he knew whenever they were around and this was not one of his siblings. especially when he heard the faint curse that left the person's lips. he had been doing this line of work for far too long to not recognize it was a woman. smirking to himself, he kept his daggers up and aimed at whoever was around the corner. he had never been exactly precise when it came to knife throwing, but he was a decent enough shot that he could at least wound someone. when ti came to close combat, however, all of his hits were fatal. that was why he was hoping to get close enough to catch the rat before he even thought about throwing his precious daggers. which was another downside to him throwing, once he threw them, he was out of a weapon.
walking up the stairs to the main area, he kept his pace slow and cautious, not wanting to startle the person and have them react quicker than him. that would just be bad form on his part. reaching the top of the stairs, he didn't see anyone in the main area but kept moving towards the main entrance, more so towards astrid's room, "come on out, you bloody rat!" he shouted, knowing that it was a person, not actually a rat, "so i can kill you quickly and painlessly." he added before he smirked to himself. he knew that never really worked in the way he would have liked, but it still felt good saying it.
crouching a bit, so he feet went quiet, he snuck towards the entrance towards the main entrance, which also lead to astrid's room. almost immediately, he lunged into the entrance, his daggers crossed and ready to do their dirty work. however, he stopped at the sight of an arrow being pointed right at him; as much as he knew he could dodge, he wasn't so sure now with his slightly intoxicated state of mind. his mind whirred with the possibilities of different tactics, but they were all thwarted when he saw the girl's armour, "thieves guild, hey? fools." he snarled before he took a few steps towards her, "what in the name of sithis are one of your doing here!? have you really become so stupid as to rob from allies?" he asked, still glaring at the girl with his daggers drawn, "what are you looking for?" he asked, pausing for a moment before adding, "answer me, bosmer!" he yelled, hoping to intimidate the girl. notes: sorry it's so short. i didn't know what to put, exactly. xD

The elf laughed. "How about we don't and say we did. I'm liking that option." There really was no need to be silent anymore. She had been caught. She was to be dead in a matter of seconds. Her last words at least needed to be more than the faint curse she had muttered only seconds before. "Painless? Please! Bring all the pain you want. If you're going to kill me, at least one of us should enjoy it." She really was a stupid girl sometimes. Egging on a member of the brotherhood like that was hardly the brightest idea.
El was completely shocked. She thought herself dead for sure. But she was not. She was standing there, alive, breathing. Breathing heavily in fact. But still, that was better than nothing, which could have been coming any second now, given the way the man had his daggers crossed. Her arm was getting a bit tired from holding her arrow, yet she refused to let it drop. "I propose a deal. You sheath your daggers. I put away my bow. And then, we converse like civilized people. And then, you have full permission to kill me. Just hear me out, please?"
"I do think you might know a bit more about stupid than I would" The girls response was taunting, though not very well. She was never particularly good at teasing the enemy. But then, she never had to be. Unless she was dealing with the guards, but those blubbering fools were easy to poke fun at. They really were horrible at their jobs sometimes. "Though, we've not grown stupid so much as desperate." Or at least she was. In her current state, she was in no position to turn down a job, no matter how completely dangerous it was. If someone needed a ring from the stomach of a bear, or a special sword swallowed by a dragon, she would have been on it like a torch on a wall. If that weren't the case, she wouldn't have been toeing the line between life and death. "Perhaps you know something about that as well."
If the assassin thought he could scare her anymore than she already was, he was as much a fool as she was. And by her count, she had been a pretty big fool. "What would I tell you that for?" Not that there was any reason to hide it, but perhaps, "Unless you plan to help me find it, I really don't see how it's any of your business." There she went again, getting herself into battles she really had no right getting into. "Besides, I very well could be delivering something." Granted, that was the job of a courier, but sometimes, things needed to be returned without attention brought the the fact that they were missing in the first place. Reverse thieving. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have places to go and people to steal from. I'm sure you have some idiot to go kill. And all this lollygagging likely won't do either of us any good, now will it?"

[/div] tagged: eleri/ allie words: 554[/div] having been in the dark brotherhood for almost a decade, he had pretty much been in every situation imaginable. any situation except this one. never had he ever seen someone try to break into the dark brotherhood sanctuary and the fact that someone had tried and succeeded had pretty much blown him over. the other part that really shocked him, was the fact that it was a thief, from the very guild that they were supposedly alliances with, that was trying to steal from them. taros almost didn't even know what to do with himself, except stay in his stance and make sure she made no sudden movements. he knew he would be able to dodge an arrow but he wasn't sure about an arrow that was at this close a distance. besides, if she were anything like the other thieves in the guild, she was a pretty good shot, "i don't make deals with thieves." he snarled before he snickered at her, "i'd watch your tongue. you're not exactly in the sort of place to be running your mouth like that." he added, trying to scare her more than he probably already had.
when she admitted that the guild itself was desperate, he narrowed his eyes at her and turned his head a bit, "desperate? doesn't seem believable. you have plenty of targets in skyrim. plenty of rich idiots to steal from." he explained, figuring it was the truth, "what makes your think the brotherhood is desperate? you can see now that almost all of us are kept busy." he pointed out, thought he figured that much was already obvious. he could also tell by her rambling that she was making an attempt to talk her way out of this situation. taros had met plenty a bargainer in his time and he had to admit that she was doing s decent job, she wasn't even showing that she was terrified out of her wits. taros took a step towards her, carefully and cautiously. he hoped that she didn't fire at his movement, but he wanted to try and get closer to her, "ha! delivering something? what do you take me for?" he asked before he looked up at her and then the arrow, "hmmm, you make a god point. but ithink i have a better idea!"
with one swift motion he took another step towards her. raised one of his daggers and brought it down hard on her arrow, cutting off the head. he then managed to take hold off her arm and twist her in the way that she was now in front of his, her back to his chest and her arm trapped behind her. with an iron grip he twisted it, and leaned into her ear, "here is what's going to happen..." he started before he brought his dagger to her throat, "you are going to be taking a bit of a road trip with me." he snarled before smirking, "we're going to be meeting your little guild members so that I can have a chat with your leaders." he added, "if you behave yourself, maybe i'll let you keep your arm." with that he twisted her arm some more, emphasizing his point, "and don't even think of trying to get away...you have no idea what i can do to you." notes: hope this is okay! i figured we could make things...dramatic! “In case you didn’t know, we’re facing hard times. Don’t know why, but we are.” It was true that there were plenty of less dangerous, and richer, targets. But where was the fun in that! “Maybe, but that gets old. There’s really no challenge in stealing from rich broads and their husbands. Honestly, it’s like child’s play.” Despite her predicament, she laughed. And, she would, as was her nature, continue to taunt he who had every right and capability to kill her. “This was more of a challenge. It could have been harder though. Really, this was a lot easier than I thought.” She shrugged. As cocky as her speech was, the words were spoken with nonchalance. And really, it took much more effort than she was willing to let on. That was the fun in it though. “You really should try harder, if you don’t want people being able to get in.” “Oh, like the Dark Brotherhood has never come even close to falling.” Maybe it hadn’t. El honestly didn’t know much in regards to the history of the Brotherhood. It was never of any important to her. Of course, she also never dreamed that anything to do with the thieves guild could be her business. But that’s life. And personally, she was okay with that. There really wasn’t much need for her to know any of it. “And you can’t honestly say that you’ve never been through a time when you would do anything to get by.” Everyone had, right?
“You just ruined a perfectly good arrow!” She hated that. Wasting arrows was idiotic at the very least, and in most circumstances, the elf didn’t stand for it. Sure, arrows weren’t terribly pricey. But they were still important. After all, a bow is useless without an arrow to shoot with. And the way she saw it was that because her weapons protected her, she needed to protect them. That was a bit hard to do with Brotherhood members walking around slashing their fancy little daggers and cutting the heads off of her arrows.
In a quick and sudden movement, her arm was behind her back, causing her pain. She winced a bit, her bow falling from her grip. “Get. Your. Hands. Off. Of. Me.” She snarled. Her words came from behind her clenched teeth. She struggled a bit, trying to get out of his iron grip, to no avail. She stopped when she felt to cold metal against her skin. Eleri may have been bad at knowing what fights she could and could not win, but she knew this was one she had no business being in. Especially when the man held his dagger to her throat. Fear flashed into her eyes. He was going to kill her. But she couldn’t die. She had too much left to do before she died. “Maybe we can reconsider where this is going.” Was the only thing she could say, a nervous laugh following her words.
Maybe he was able to intimidate her more than she already was.
“Fine.” The reply came quickly, but if that was the only way she was going to get out, there was no reason to think. Maybe, when they were out in the woods, she could slip away. That was easy enough, right. After all, she managed to escape the guards frequently. She just couldn’t let her plan to show. Eleri liked to think she was good at that. It was all part of her game anyway. She yelped as he twisted her arm father. “I get it! No funny business. Gods” She sighed. “Now, will you please let go of me?” At this point, she just wanted her arm back. “It’d would be easier for me to walk if I’m not being restrained the entire time, you know.”

[/div] tagged: eleri/ allie words: 519[/div] the situation he had got himself into was one that he never thought he would have to deal with. he thought that the brother hood had a close alliance with the thieves guild. so seeing one of thier members in his house, trying to steal something of theirs was highly upsetting on a personal and business level. he would defintley have to speak to mercer or vex about this. depending on what exactly the girl was trying to steal, it could have possibly been devlin as well. taros knew many people at the guild and never once did he think that he would be the one being stolen from. he felt like a chump, as if he had been betrayed and, if it was vex who had sent the girl in, he would be somewhat heartbroken. himself and vex had grown up together, had known each other in windhelm before both of them had begun their obscure lives. the woman knew very well that taros was in the dark brotherhood, but he had never shown her where the sanctuary was. then a question popped into his head, "how did you even find this place?"
his question was asked with his hand still on the girl's arm. she had put up a struggle, but it was nothing compared to taros' giant stature and build. being a dark elf, most people expected to see him scrawny and lean, but he was bulky and hefty. his parents had a theory that one of his father's ancestors were orsimer, but taros just thought it was the next step in the dunmer evolution. when she spoke of talking things through, he scoffed, "typical theif. coward." he snarled before he loosened his grip on her for a moment. he gave her a slight bit of hope that he would let go of her, but then he tightened his grip again, "i don't think you understand." he started, his voice wtill filled with threat, "i'm not letting you out of my sight nor am i letting go of your arm." he explained before he started to push her towards the entrance of the sanctuary, "you are going to be tied to a rope that is going to be attached to my hand and you are going to walk all the way to riften while i am on horseback." he explained, trying to paint a picture for her.
putting the dagger away, he used his free hand to wrap a rope around her neck as well as around her wrist. turning her around, he grabbed her free one, throwing her bow to the groung before wrapping her other wrist together. once he was done, he picked up her bow , took out the arrows from her quiver and waved them in her face, "at the end of it all, if you don't try to exacpe. you get these back." he explained before taking hold of all three ropes and leading her out of the sanctuary.
once outside, he wrapped the ropes around the horn of the saddle and straddled up, "i hope you ate lots before we left." notes: sorry this took so long.!
