turning into more of a nightmare than a dream It took her a moment to realise that she was not dead. There was no way that she had made it out of that mine alive. But, death could not include this much pain. Every part of her body screamed. Her left side was tender, her head pounding, her whole body felt heavy. There had to be pins in her eyelids, because she had been trying for at least a half hour to open them, but they would not budge. She made a small noise as she made another attempt to move, but she was being crushed by something. Had the mine caved in? No, no it was a blanket. And it was not crushing her. It was keeping her warm. She wanted it to stop but her limbs were not working. She groaned a little as she tried again to open her eyes. Not that she needed to to know that her husband was there. She could hear him breathing next to her. She could feel him worrying about her. She wanted to tell him not to worry. She was fine. She was in pain but it was nothing that she could not handle. Layla had felt worse. She thought she had felt worse, maybe, at some point. It was hard to remember right now ”Taros” She said softly, again struggling to open her eyes again. She could not remember exactly what happened. She remembered being in the mine and dying, but she could not remember anything else. A man with no face, but it was not her husband. Her husband was here with her. In their room in their house. This was the place they lived together. Where they were going to start a family. Where she repeatedly lied to him and told him she was nothing but an enchantress that nothing exciting ever happened when he was away. He was worried and it was all her fault. She could have just told him what she did. But he loved her the way that he thought she was. Knowing the truth might have crushed him. She had not wanted to be responsible for that, so instead she had snuck off on her own. Layla had almost gotten herself killed rather than tell her husband the truth. She made another attempt to push the green blanket off of her, with a small piece of success. Then her voice was a little stronger. ”Taros. What happened?” She asked though her eyes still refused to open. word count - 415 . tag - taros .

OUTFIT HERE | [atrb=style, width: 265px;][atrb=valign,top]he had awoken in his own bed, bandaged and weak from his extensive trek to make it back to solitude from god knows where in skyrim. at first he let himself come to slowly and meekly, almost on the verge of falling back into the slumber that he had been in for the last divines know how long. then it hit him, like a rock through glass - where was layla? drawing in a deep breath that pained his chest and tense his muscles, his eyes shot open, his pupils dialted as he realized just what had happened. had he not made it in time? had he lost the only woman he could ever find himself in love with? in one movement, he was sitting up in bed, every single one of his muscles screaming at him to stop moving and to lie back down, but the will was too strong, "layla!" he called, in hopes that she would magically respond to him. it then occured to him that he was not in his own bed but in fact in the blue palace. looking around, he saw the court wizard, mixing a potion that he would soon find sliding down his own throat. the dunmer was in a hurry and quickly climbed to his feet, finding himself in nothing but a pair of breeches, "where is my wife?" he questioned before the wizard turned to him with wide eyes. taros furrowed his eyebrows when the man didn't answer him right away, "i said, where is she!?" he shouted before the wizard spoke, stating that she was at home, resting and that she would more than likely make a full recovery. without a moments hesitation, taros grabbed a shirt and a pair of fur boots before making his way out of the blue palace. the wizard had urged him to go back to sleep but taros ignored the man forced his way out of the medical wing.
on the way towards his own house, he was nearly stopped by jericho, a dear friend and one of the men who had found him with his wife in his arms. taros simply pushed him out of the way and plunged on towards his home, more than determined to see his wife and be there when and if she woke up. as much as he wanted to believe the wizard as to layla actually waking up and making a full recovery, he had seen how beaten and bruised she was, it was miracle she was even alive.
finding himself finally home, he walked up the stairs with great difficulty, his wn body still tired and weak from his own venture back. but he made it to the top of the stairs and then into the bedroom where he saw her, peacfully asleep. letting out a deep breath, he walked towards a chair that was placed beside the bed and reached his own hands out, grasping hers within them, "i'm sorry..." he breathed as he brought her hand to his lips, placing a kiss to the back of it before he heard her speak. all of the fear and ain washed away immediately before he leaned over her, reaching a hand out to stroke her forehead, "shhh..." he breathed, looking at her with soft eyes, "i found you in a cave..." he added before he looked down towards he stomach, which now looked much more flat than before. the realization hit him just as hard as it had when he had woken up - they had lost their child. he didn't need a wizard to tell him that.
bringing his gaze back towards her, he brushed some of her dark hair out of her face, "but don't worry about that now. you need your rest, my love..." his voice was low and gentle, trying to keep her in a calm state of mind. even though so many questions ran through his head, there was a time and a place to ask. |
