vilkas .
FULL NAME; Vilkas NICK NAMES; None he particularly cares for. AGE & BIRTHDAY; 30 & 6th of Sun's Dusk. SPECIES; Nord. OCCUPATION; Warrior. ALLEGIANCE; Neutral. GUILDS; Companions. WITCH, VAMPIRE OR WEREWOLF; Werewolf. SEXUAL ORIENTATION; Bisexual. CANON; Yes. | [atrb=border,0,true] SKILLS;; Two-handed: As soon as he was old enough to lift one, Vilkas showed extraordinary skill with two-handed weapons. His Nordic brute strength combined with his sharp intellect make him an analytical juggernaut, and every Companion knows that he's the man to go to if you need help honing your skills with the claymore or battle axe. Heavy Armor: Going hand in hand with the slow but powerful fighting style provided by two-handed weapons, Vilkas is at home in heavy armor, protecting him when wide swings leave him exposed and providing that extra bit of bone-shattering momentum when he truly gets up to speed. It takes a cleverer mind or a heavier hand than his to break through his defenses. Block: Though strong, Vilkas is not the powerhouse of stamina that his brother is, and he has to balance offense and defense as he balances power and intelligence - he cannot endure as many direct hits as some of his shield-brothers, but he is fairly proficient at keeping himself from taking them at all. Smithing & Alchemy: Amongst his minor skills Vilkas holds these two. He knows he will never be a master of either, nor does he honestly care to be, but in a pinch he can repair his own armor passably and put together a healing salve or a draught to boost his energy. He can accurately identify most herbs with his lycanthropic sense of smell, and though he only knows how to use a few himself, he has been able to make some neat coin on the side selling rare ingredients he comes across to Arcadia in her shop. APPEARANCE;; Tall and broad as any Nord, though darker of hair and eyes than his blonde, blue-eyed countrymen, which sometimes leads him to doubt his own heritage, though since gaining the sense of belonging that comes with being part of a pack, this concern has become less pressing in his mind. He is virtually identical to his twin, though over time Farkas has taken on more muscle mass than he, and Vilkas tends to keep his hair shorter and more neatly kept - otherwise their resemblance is startling, from height to facial features to some of their expressions, and there has never been a doubt that the two brothers are precisely that. Vilkas tends to dress in the traditional wolf armor of the Companions, heavy metal, hides, and fur in mute colors, and he carries his sword with him constantly, never parted from his weapons under any circumstance. In the past this was merely the readiness of a warrior, but in recent days it had been a means to remove the temptation to change. PERSONALITY;; Any of the senior companions will tell you at a moment's notice that Vilkas was the wolf twin who was gifted with Ysgramor's smarts, the sharp wit to Farkas' indomitable brawn, but he is known just as well for his sharp tongue. He may have inherited the brains of the family, but he also got the temper, far more hot-blooded than his kinder, calmer, if more simple-minded brother. He thinks through everything he does, but he is woefully prone to letting the urge for vengeance and retaliation overwhelm his reason, and this has led to mistakes on his part in the past - and, he is sure, will likely lead to more in the future. It is this in part that has led to his growing desire to be free of the beast blood; he was young and brash when he accepted it, and time being honed into a mature, capable warrior under Kodlak's patient hand has led him to realize that he might have rushed into the decision too soon, and dragged his brother along with him. He fears that one day his bestial side will cause him to make an error he won't be able to fix, or cost him someone he cares about, and so he's been taking steps to keep better control over himself, to mixed results. He tends to be moody and snippy with people he doesn't know, both because he is slow to trust and left irritable by the call of the blood, but to those he knows well he is a warm and loyal friend. HISTORY;; Vilkas has never been the type to turn his past into a story, as he frankly believes it has yet to hold anything of note. He cannot remember the place of his birth, though he does recall a bit more of his life before coming to Jorvasskr than his brother - fleeting visions of the snow-clad forest at night, a fur-bound figure silhouetted against a campfire, and Farkas, always Farkas, his scent and strength and straight-forward opinion of the world. He never bonded to Jergen as Farkas did, always feeling a strange wariness of him he was unable to explain or shake, like there was something unclean in their shared past that he could not remember and Jergen would not share, but when he left for the War and never came back, he still felt a pang of loss that eventually became resentment. An easier feeling - anger had always been easier for him. Though love was also something he was no stranger to. Making mischief across Whiterun with his twin is a childhood activity he remembers fondly, even when one of the Companions cuffed them for misbehaving, and he was ever Farkas' stalwart defender, just as his brother has been his, making up for each others' weaknesses and bolstering their strengths. He grew up with him within the great mead hall, and they learned the ways of honor and combat together, becoming fierce and brave and true. Vilkas, however, gained a hot streak his brother didn't, and when he was offered the chance at taking on the wolf curse when he came of age, he jumped at the chance without considering the consequences, his brother following trustingly at his heels, as he had ever done. He has since gained the boons of the beast blood, but as he grew from boy to man Kodlak Whitemane saw potential in him, and took him under his wing as something between a student and a friend, where his brash enthusiasm was gradually tempered by wisdom. With time he's come to realize that he might just have sold a piece of himself he dearly wants back in making the bargain, and more than being Kodlak's de facto right hand, he has also become his most solid ally in quietly opposing their curse. He wants to walk the halls of Sovngarde one day, and when he meets his shield-brothers there he'd rather not have been the one to send them there ahead of him - only time will tell if he manages to make good on that aim. |
